This is a highly desirable and very rare collector piece of American History.

This DMC-12 from 1982 is a three-speed automatic car and has been well cared for. The suspension was refurbished to return it to the as-designed ride height with new struts and springs. what a great stance!
Other new mechanical items include the brakes. radiator. cooling fans. water pump. thermostat. hoses. air-conditioning pump and hoses. as well as the interior. upholstery. and carpeting.

The government-mandated original 85-mph speedometer was replaced with the originally intended 130-mph as designed.

All the glass is in great condition with a new windshield and all-new rubber mouldings and seals throughout.

All the gas pistons for the doors and front and rear lids have been replaced.

New front and rear bumpers and a new grille were installed.

All the parts came directly from DMC at Humble. Texas.

We would classify the car as a good driver quality and certainly a good candidate to take to the next level.

Retro Californa Blue plate comes with the car.

If ever there was an automotive executive capable of taking on the established players at their own game. John Z. Delorean was that person.

Leaving Chrysler for Packard. where he helped develop Packard's highly regarded Twin-Ultramatic automatic transmission. Delorean was offered the opportunity to join his choice of five General Motors divisions in the wake of Packard's ill-fated 1954 merger with Studebaker.

Choosing Pontiac. which was headed by Semon E. "Bunkie" Knudsen with a mandate to "fix or kill" the foundering marque. Delorean began there as an assistant to both chief engineer Pete Estes and Knudsen.

Together. the men did indeed turn around Pontiac. resulting in the landmark "Wide Track"1959 model line and unforgettable performance cars including the Bonneville. Grand Prix. 2+2. and the landmark GTO. Named the head of Pontiac in 1965. Delorean was a driving force in Pontiac's hold on its 3 rd place market share through most of the 1960 s.

In 1970. Delorean was named division head of Chevrolet and he quickly turned the troubled GM division around.

In 1972. he rose to Vice-President of GM's entire car and truck production. but grew increasingly tired of GM`s corporate politics and left the giant in 1973. Delorean quickly set up his own company. named the Delorean Motor Company. and a prototype two-seat sports car called the "Delorean Safety Vehicle" was unveiled.

Styled by Giorgetto Giurgiaro of Italdesign and featuring stainless-steel body panels. gullwing-style doors. and he PRV (Peugeot. Renault. and Volvo) V-6 engine. the car was named the DMC-12 with new manufacturing facilities established in Dunmurry. Northern Ireland with massive financial incentives from the Northern Ireland Development Agency.

Production began in early 1981 and over the next 21 months. approximately 9. 00 DMC-12 s were built.

Today. the cars are unqualified icons with an enthusiastic following.
