1969 Shelby GT 350 Hardtop The new 1969 Ford Mustang gave the engineers at Shelby a chance to start with a fresh new design which would become the final year for Shelby production. The Shelby engineers made the decision to be liberal with the use of fiberglass on the new Shelby and would intern. create the most recognizable of all Shelby Mustangs produced. 1969 marked the first time a Shelby would have a front end made entirely from fiberglass. It is also the only design to utilize Shelby only fiberglass front fenders. No longer would the Shelby share a front bumper with the Mustang. 1969 marked the first year the Shelby would require a unique front bumper due to the large grille opening. which would account for the entire front end of the car. Another first for the Shelby in 1969 was the addition of front fender air ducts to aid in cooling of the front brakes. In reality. the front air ducts were more designed for style than functionality. The GT 350 received a bump in power thanks to the new 351 Windsor small blocks. which produced 290 horsepower. 40 more than the previous years 302 cubic inch version. "Ram Air" induction also became standard on all Shelby Mustangs both GT 350's and GT 500's.
This GT 350 was the recipient of a MCA Concourse restoration.
The result? It scored Gold in the summer of 2006. Every aspect of the originality of this Shelby was realized during restoration. The only liberty taken was the addition of factory air conditioning. In 1969. only 824 GT 350 fastbacks were built. 247 of them had the Close ratio four-speed transmission. Only 31 of those GT 350's were built Candy Apple Red with Black interior and just 10 had deluxe seat belts/warning light. this is one of those! This unique Shelby is numbers matching with its original driveline and motor! Documentation is thorough including the original Build Sheet. Retail Installment Contract. Shelby Automotive Individual Order Form. Original Dealer invoice. and Marti Auto Works reports. This Shelby has it all. numbers matching. desirable color combination. manual transmission. full documentation. and a judged show pedigree!
