The PANTHER RIO was a motor car made by british manufacturer Panther Westwinds. sing Triumph Dolomite mechanicals. It differed from the family saloon class dolomite. In being finished to Rolls Royce standards . Panther Westwinds had been set up by fashion designer Robert Jankel to produce  expensive and bespoke car for the customer that wanted something different. Jankel began working on a car that would appeal to the Rolls Royce looking to trade down to something more economic. yet still considered higher class loseing nothing in terms of luxury and build quality . The Panther Rio  was the result launched in september  1975 . he car had leather and walnut internal fittings and a hand-beat aluminium skin. Sold by H. R. OWEN along side Rolls Royce it was destine for good things but the price was far to expensive and sales were very slow . wikipedia suggest that only 38 were produced  however the Panther clubs suggest far less. The car for sale is the rarer Rio Especial. this used the high performance Triumph Dolomite Sprint as its basis . The rio is complete and sold as a restoration project . the condition is very poor and will require  major work. Engine does not run head was removed many years ago and has be just placed back on the block . Allthough the paint and laquer is poor the alloy body is in fare condition. owever the steel underbody is very rotten and will need major panel replacement to the floor pan and sills etc. Interior is all there but in poor condition . o some up the whole car will need a complete rebuild. On the plus side. he car has a personal registration plate TTM 314 which has a reasonable value when car has MOT. Also the car has a full history file even down to petrol receipts and details of all its previous owners .  It was previously owned by a member of the panther club who toured Europe were it has been photographed and even a white metal model of this actual car is being produced by a German company called DERREZ . ou will find evidence on this on the internet. There are only two other rios for sale that I can find on the the net . ne has a price tag of £21. 00 the other £8. 00
VERY VERY RARE PEACE OF BRITISH MOTORING HISTORY . HICH CAN ONLY RISE IN VALUE
