VOLKSWAGEN GOLF GTI Mark 1 Mk1 1983 90,000 miles outstanding condition

Here we have a stunning 1983 Golf GTI having covered only 90. 00 miles from new.

I have owned the car since 2012. and although it was my intention to buy. restore and keep for my personal enjoyment (weekends and shows). other family priorities have meant that I have decided to put her on the market.

History of YPC 983Y

I purchased our GTI from a chap who had owned her for a few months. He told me he had all the best intentions of completing a full restoration. but didn't have the money.

He had bought it from a Gentleman who owned the car for around 16 years. The car's low mileage is credited to the fact he was abroad often. and the car was only used occasionally. I have a letter from the long-standing previous owner confirming this. and the letter forms part of the car's history file.

Sadly the owner of 16 years did not keep any service history. however I have contacted the garage he used to maintain the car. and they have confirmed they serviced and MOTd the car every year without fail. I intend to obtain a letter from the servicing garage confirming this. I will provide the future owner with the contact information for the garage.

The good news is that I do have all MOT certificates dating back to 1998 which confirm the authentic low mileage. along with some of the tax discs and the blue VW folder with manual and the information that came with the car when new.

11 months MOT – no advisories

I must add that she drives very well. and is everything you would expect a Mark 1 Golf GTI to be.

I must be honest. there is just one job I have not had the opportunity to complete. and that is to replace the head-lining. There are two small holes. which are very unfortunate. I have been quoted £200 to have this work completed. and I have reflected this in the car's reserve  price.

The original red cloth seats are available. and have been restored to a very useable condition.   The only flaw is the red fabric has faded. but not badly.   The original seats are available upon separate negotiation as similar interiors achieve around £500 on eBay and specialist VW sites.
