1957 Cadillac Fleetwood in outstanding condition

First off. I have to say that I am priviledged to be listing 4 beautiful 1950's American cars on behalf of the family and estate of the late Iain Kilpatrick. I ask you to please read the whole listing before asking any questions. and I also ask that you only ask for more pictures by e-mail if you are genuinely interested. and then I ask you to be respectful in any offer you may make. I would much prefer that you make an appointment to come and view the car/s you are interested in as I have not done an in depth assesment and can only tell what I see form a walk around. Any offers made have to be agreed by the family and lawyer before we can proceed further.

I stress once again. that these are not my cars. I have no financial stake in them. I am simply liquidating them on behalf of the family. It is up to you to have an inspection done if you so desire. The cars are sold "as-is" or "sold as seen" and myself or my business takes no responsibility for anything to do with them.

The four cars to be offered are: 1957 Cadillac Fleetwood in magenta (ish) metallic. 1957 Buick Special 2 door (stunning in blue). 1958 Buick Special 2 door pillarless hardtop in yellow. and a 1958 Oldsmobile 88 four door pillarless sedan in black. All will be listed separately on Ebay.

Okay. the legal bit out of the way. this listing is for a stunning 1957 Cadillac Fleetwood 4 door pillarless sedan. It has the 365 cu in V8 and column shift auto. My wife drove it from the owner's home to my garage and said it drove really well. Brakes are sharp due to being powered. something we are not used to on our normal '50s pickups. All we have done is collect the car. drive it to base. clean and polish it and do a walk round.

So: mileage will not be correct at 16656. I would assume it's been round once already. Although MOT exempt. it does have an MOT until 31/07/14 and the free tax disc also expires at the end of July. The car can therefore be driven away. and this in fact was the one Ian used most recently for the 2013 show season.

The bodywork is virtually flawless. the paint is beautiful but does have small blemishes here and there as it was not a trailer queen. the chrome and stainless is stunning other than small imperfections to rear bumper ends and the trunk "V" should be changed as the gold coating is bubbling up. I think these are less than 30 bucks in the States. looks exactly he same as the one on my '57 Chevy BelAir.

Wheels are like new. tyres are excellent radial whitewalls. Under the hood is very clean and tidy. exhausts are almost new. dynamo has been changed out for an alternator. It starts. runs. drives and stops as it should. I did notice a little knock from the exhaust when idling cold. might need a little adjustment. Inside the trunk is also clean and tidy. and the trunk has "soft closure". yes from 1957!!

Electrics as follows: all sidelights. headlights. main beam. indicators. reversing lights all work as they should including the "tell tales" in the dash. Heater works. wipers been converted to electric so work from a different switch. can't seem to get the washers to work. Interior lights above doors don't seem to work but the one on the dash above the glove box does. Horn works. dash lights work. it has an "autronic eye" and "traffic light viewer". radio doesn't work. and aerial needs tightened up.

All the glass is ecxellent with just some very minor bubbles on both front vent windows. Vent windows wind out manually and work great. all four door windows are electric and all work great except the left rear which needs adjusted as it jams before going all the way up. see photo.

So. that's all I know about the car. I did lie down and have a quick look under and it looks very clean and solid. no issues at all. Like I said. best if you come and see as this is not the project pickups I sell for my business which usually sell on description and sell unseen. This is a much more expensive car and really needs viewing.

This is all we know about the car.
