1958 Buick Special 2 door hardtop, "King Of Chrome" awesome presence

First off. I have to say that I am priviledged to be listing 4 beautiful 1950's American cars on behalf of the family and estate of the late Iain Kilpatrick. I ask you to please read the whole listing before asking any questions. and I also ask that you only ask for more pictures by e-mail if you are genuinely interested. and then I ask you to be respectful in any offer you may make. I would much prefer that you make an appointment to come and view the car/s you are interested in as I have not done an in depth assesment and can only tell what I see form a walk around. Any offers made have to be agreed by the family and lawyer before we can proceed further.

I stress once again. that these are not my cars. I have no financial stake in them. I am simply liquidating them on behalf of the family. It is up to you to have an inspection done if you so desire. The cars are sold "as-is" or "sold as seen" and myself or my business takes no responsibility for anything to do with them.

The four cars to be offered are: 1957 Cadillac Fleetwood in magenta (ish) metallic. 1957 Buick Special 2 door (stunning in blue). 1958 Buick Special 2 door pillarless hardtop in yellow. and a 1958 Oldsmobile 88 four door pillarless sedan in black. All will be listed separately on Ebay.

Okay. the legal bit out of the way. this listing is for an awesome looking 1958 Buick Special 2 door pillarless coupe. This has the 364 cu in "Nailhead" V8 and column shift automatic trans. with torque tube drive to the rear axle. The exhaust note is awesome from this car. My brother drove this from Ian's house to the workshop and says it drove very well. but with the odd pull to one side depending on road surface. I discovered a tyre at 10psi which would probably be the cause. but there is a slightly worn ball joint as mentioned below which may contribute to this. This car has NOT had a full inspection by us. all we have done is collect the car. drive it to base. clean and polish it and do a walk round.

So: mileage will not be correct at 19226. I would assume it's been round once. and we have no service history. Although this is MOT exempt. Ian kept it MOTd and that runs out on April 15th. the free tax disc expires end March. There were some advisories on the last MOT. which were wear in all four shocker bushes. both anti roll bar drop links. as well as the lower right front ball joint. It is noted that none have excessive play and the car has only done 226 miles since.

The bodywork is really good. paint is older but still shows well. a few blisters towards bottoms of sills and some light chips here and there. just being honest. it still looks great. Most of the chrome and stainless is excellent. but there are a few minor dings here and there. worst being the trim above the right headlight. and the leading lower edge of the left rear wheelarch trim which needs a new clip. The centre section of the rear bumper is losing it's lustre.

Interior is in excellent condition. been retrimmed at some time. and even the trunk has ben fully doen including inside the lid.

Wheels are original steel and could do with the rims being repainted. all wheel trims are excellent. tyres are decent. but are cross plies.

Electrics as follows: all sidelights. headlights. main beam. indicators. nbsp;license plate lights all work as they should including the "tell tales" in the dash. One reversing light not working. Heater works. wipers are original vaccuum working from the original switch but they are slow and intermittent. can't seem to get the washers to work. There are no courtesy lights on this one. must have been ommitted when the interior was trimmed years ago. Horn works. dash lights work. radio just makes a buzzing sound. This still has a dynamo and according to the gauge it is showing a discharge. but I'll check that out. All gauges work including the fuel.

All the glass is pretty good. front and rear screens are excellent. some bubbles and marks in the laminate on some of the side glass. Windows are manually operated and all four drop glases go up and down as they should. and the vent windows wind in and out properly. Looks really kool with the side windows down for that pillarless open coupe style.

So. that's all I know about the car for now. Like I said. best if you come and see as this is not the project pickups I sell for my business which usually sell on description and sell unseen. This is a much more expensive car and really needs viewing.
