1948 DeSoto Long Wheel Base 7 passenger Jump Seats, 1 owner, unrestored, Calif.

1948 Desoto Custom. this is the rare long wheel base model that seats 2 extra passengers comfortably (jump seats). It seats 7 passengers comfortably but. could seat 8 if you put 3 up front (even 9 if 3 on jump seats).  I bought this car about 6 years ago from relatives from the original owner. I hate to sell it but. I don't have space for it any longer. This car has spent its whole life in dry sunny California. I keep it mainly indoors.

The body is overall all original. never wrecked or rusted out. The majority of the paint is the original. Yes. scratches. oxidation. chips and other small dings and blemishes. However. nbsp;I like this cars patina and never intended on repainting it but. that will be your decision. Chrome and stainless all there and  overall real good for its age. This car is rock solid inside and out!

Engine seems to run good. no knocks. excessive smoke or noticeable leaks. It does start up. goes into gear and drives quite well. Good oil pressure. nbsp;The engine makes an intermittent squeal noise sounds like water pump (but I replaced it with new 4 years ago. because it was leaking)?. Generator was rebuilt. Fuel pump replaced and all brakes/related completely replaced. I never power bleed the system yet (it should be) but. stops good. It has 4 year old correct type white wall tires x4. still like new. I just drive this car around my yard. in and out of garage or occasionally around the block. Suspension and steering are good and tight.  It is not quite yet at a "driver" status. I just haven't put the extra needed time into it. I have put nearly $2500. 00 into it in all the above over the past 6 years.

Interior is all original. It is all splitting at the seems and basically falling apart. The material has not held up over the past 65 years in this dry climate. But. it all there for patterns. The door handles. window cranks. trim pieces all there intact. This isn't one of those cars that some novice has taken apart. It is basically all original. un-modified and intact.

In a nutshell. this is a solid basically all original honest old rare car. I have done all the brakes. tires and other bolt on rebuilds and or correct replacements. I have a clear title in my name. it starts up on its own. goes into gear fine. stops. No. I don't recommend you drive it any great distance as its a 65 year old car you are unfamiliar with.
