1969 AMC AMX show car, classic vintage muscle

This matching # '69 AMX listed is a beautiful car bumper to bumper.   It has the original 390. which has been slightly massaged and is almost 500 horse power.   The transmission is the original Borge-Warner T10 which has also been massaged. ith the original hurst 4 speed and is extremely tight and close.   The motor was built by John Edgar of Canoga Park. nbsp;CA.   If you've been an AMC guy for any period of time. you probably recognize his name.    To be clear. this car has not been raced or been on the track.   It was built to the highest standard for show and go. not for the track.   The rear end is also original AMC 20. which has been gone-through completely and strengthened as well.   The exterior and engine compartment are painted in Imron aircraft paint.  The only thing that's not original in this car are the seats.   When I got it the seats were no good. so I replaced them with Raccaro racing seats.  

I've had this car for many years. and it's never been a disappointment. whether in a parade. cruising through the mountains or at a car show.   It has won many many plaques and trophies at car shows from California to Colorado.   It really is a beautiful car.  It's been featured in numerous muscle car calendars and publications including Popular Hotrodding.  The interior is beautiful as well.   It was appraised at $35. 00 two years ago.   Our insurance company (State Farm. who insures our home and all our vehicles) sent out their own appraiser (not someone we chose) at the end of February. 2013 and reaffirmed the value and the condition of the vehicle to be the same as the prior appraisal of $35. 00.   This vehicle is only driven in spring. summer and fall months. weather permitting - never in rainy or bad weather.   

It's a 2-seater with a 4-speed - hold on!

The wires by the shifter are for the electric cut outs for the exhaust I just put in and just haven't hid the wires yet.   On request I can email you a video of the vehicle running. or I can start it up for you while we're on the phone if you call.

Also included with the vehicle are four or five boxes of extra parts and pieces I've collected over the years. including many interior. a few exterior. wires. bushings. newly painted front springs. and extra front bumper.

Some of the new pics are in response to questions I got during the last listing.   I've been asked why I am selling the vehicle and if I've had other AMXs.   I've been an AMX guy for 30 years and I've had more than a handful of AMXs. generally 390s. but a few 401s.   You'll notice my white 69 AMX dragster next to this red white and blue car in one of the pictures.   At the time it was put together. we believed it to be the highest output AMC engine without the help of nitrous or a supercharger.   What you're looking at is an AMX 401 with the water jackets filled to make the block solid.   The engine is 16. 5 to 1 compression. alcohol injected. almost 1100 HP. with the coolant running directly to the heads. basically built like a scat engine.   As far as the reason I'm selling the red white and blue AMX: since I moved to Colorado. my interests have gone to putting together more and more offroad toys these days.  In one picture you'll notice a friend's Hummer sitting next to one of my newest projects. an oversized Jeep that's actually a combination of two Jeeps.   Again. thanks for looking!
