Welcome to this listing for what is a totally unique opportunity for a Citroen CX that is certainly the only one of it's kind in the UK. and I'd go as far as saying almost certainly in the world too.

So what is it? 

Well as you can see from the pictures it is indeed a Series 1 CX Prestige. but it does hold a few differences within which make it unique. A bit of history for you first in that you might know that in the Citroen circles it's fairly well known that the "holy grail" of the CX model is the Prestige Turbo. This is due to the combination of the highest two specifications availible. the long wheel base Prestige chassis (9 3/4" longer than the standard saloon). with the power train of the GTi Turbo (168BHP and 217FT/LB of Torque). In right hand drive form Citroen produced just five CX Prestige Turbos however these were manufactured from 1986 and thus in Series 2 (plastic bumper) form. Many Citroenists much prefer  the purer lines of the Series 1 cars with their stainless steel bumpers. however Citroen never manufactured a Series 1 CX Prestige Turbo. Back to this car. it is a 1985 model year Series 1 CX 25 Prestige which are anyway in very short supply nowadays and are also one of the most desirable CXs - the most aesthetically pleasing shape of the Series 1 car however with the (shortly available in Series 1 form) 2500cc fuel injected engine.

So even in standard form this car is very rare in itself. certainly as CX Section Secretary and Webmaster for the Citroen Car Club I personally only know of 9 Series 1 CX 25 Prestiges and this is the only one which is finished in Black. which is arguably the most desirable colour for a "big Citroen". Certainly combined with the Black Leather interior it is quite the combination.

The factor that makes this car unique is that it is fact a Series 1 CX 25 Prestige Turbo - a car that Citroen never made. however in hindsight a car they definitely should of made.  

The purer looks of the Series 1 car. the presedential-esque level of luxury from the extended wheelbase of the Prestige whilst having the power train of the GTi Turbo - the 2500cc 4 cylinder Garrett T3 Turbo charged unit with power output of 168BHP and 217 FT/LB of torque.  

Arguably "the" holy grail of CXs.

The conversion was carried out by a well known and highly regarded Citroen enthusiast who has been a Citroen Car Club member for many years. owns many a CX and is a great supporter for the CX model.

Having acquired the car from my friend and fellow serial CX enthusiast last year (who had owned it for over 20 years). I have carried out a lot of recommissioning work due to the car being dry stored off of the road for many years. Such work included cleaning out the fuel system which included draining and cleaning the fuel tank. cleaned and replaced injectors. both fuel filters replaced and fresh fuel added. Once this was done this meant that it now starts on the button. suspension rises and falls and the engine pulls well through all of the gears. I must say that this particular engine really does sound "sweet" - one of the nicest sounding GTi Turbo engines that I have heard in a long time. The CX drives well. and having completed near 10 miles in it all appeared well with just the steering appearing to pull one way. The CX also features an intercooler from a GTi Turbo 2 as well as a DTR Turbo 2 gearbox (longer 5th gear so therefore lower engine revs when cruising). Such was the level of conversion. an ABS system was also fitted too which was not normally available on the Series 1 cars.

Further work included the fitment of a set of respectable alloy wheels with four good used tyres. the fitment of a replacement back box (correct twin system exhaust). high pressure suspension pipe changed. new spark plugs fitted. drivebelt replaced. replacement number plates. replacement sidelights fitted. replacement headlights fitted (rare yellow inner bulb covers) and CV gaitor replaced. Certainly looking at that list the parts alone would be around the £1000 mark. I'm pleased to report that underneath in regards to the floors and longerons (main chassis "rails") will be fine for MOT and not the usual case of some CXs whereby they are non-existent (please see photos below).

Please do have a look at the many high resolution photos below. clicking on the thumbnails will bring up larger pictures. As per the pictures. you can see that the bodywork does indeed have a very nice lustre. and is in good condition bearing in mind that it has been dry stored for many years and is nearly 30 years old. Do expect there to be marks and scratches here and there around the bodywork which I have tried to highlight in the photographs. Other areas regarding the bodywork worth mentioning is that the bonnet has some marks on the edge. however as per the pictures appears to be solid underneath. and the bootlid edge will need repairing in the future as is the usual case on CXs (totally repairable and will not need replacing. only requiring attention as and when you would like to carry this out - it is not unsightly). The interior is also in good condition. the leather has a lovely patina to it with just a few areas needing TLC. namely the usual trait of the headlining starting to sag. Please also notice that the steering wheel is the correct item from a Series 1 GTi Turbo (leather bound - the only leather bound steering wheel available on CXs). and moving to the exterior there are "T" (for Turbo) emblems on the bonnet. c-pillar custode trims and also the larger Turbo spoiler as well. The CX is currently on SORN.

The CX is reading 60. 89 miles. and the previous owner has confirmed to me that this is correct. Obviously the engine has been changed. however with the conversion being carried out in the 1990s the donor unit was only 7 years old and the mileage was of a similar figure.  

Unfortunately after completing a lot of work on this CX I am having to advertise the car for sale and I am hopeful that the new owner will complete the work that I have started and get this CX back to cruising on the roads. I will freely admit that this is my ultimate CX. the best specification that I think that you can get and certainly a car that will definitely come to value in the future. Unfortunately I feel that I cannot dedicate enough time to the car that I would like to due to being a student at University and therefore I am giving this one off opportunity for someone to take on this CX. Normally my father (the Chairman of the CX Section) would consider taking it on however he is nowadays not restoring CXs.  

I have listed the CX on a classified advert as to avoid any "eBay dreamers" clicking on a Buy It Now price after one too many shandys of an evening. therefore with the classified advert contact has to be established and therefore I'll know that you are genuine and not one of the usual "eBay dreamers".

Viewing is very welcome. please come down and have a look and satisfy yourself of the condition.  Price-wise please do bear in mind that once this car has been completed there is no doubt that it will be worth in the region of double the advertised price. There is a Best Offer function on this advert however sensible offers will only be considered considering the potential and pedigree of this car.

This CX is a must for a serious CX enthusiast. this really is a one-off opportunity and one that won't come along again in the future. After the new owner has continued the recommissioning work that I have started. you will have a CX that is not only totally unique however one that will be admired by all CX enthusiasts.  Arguably. this is a CX that Citroen really should of made. They missed out.
