1962 Rambler Classic / Custom. Only 62. 00 Original Miles.   Runs and drives great. New Seat belts recently installed (car was manufactured without it. we can remove them. that would make it legal to drive it without seat belts. if you prefer). Starts promptly without hiccup and shifts nicely into gear. It is our daily driver (miles might slightly go up by the time you buy it) and gets a lot of compliments. We have the original owner manual and keys.

New brakes. radiator. carb rebuild. generator rebuild. transmission serviced. just tuned with new plugs. points and condenser. Goodyear tires are near new and the muffler and exhaust has been recently replaced. The body and interior are in good shape. The paint is fair. the deep red looks great (not the original color. the car is all original). All trim. badges. letters and hubcaps are intact and shiny. The car has some minor rust (bottom is perfect). little for a 1962 Rambler! Prior owner had removed the original radio and added a modern one (as you can see in photos). we have found an original one and installed it; we also installed new old stock visors and have 2 new armrests. very easy to find parts for ramblers and they are inexpensive. Car comes from smoke-free environment and has no smells. Like any older car has some minor quarks. for example the glove box opens and closes perfectly as it should but does not lock. interior ceiling dome light cover is missing (metal part and bulb are there). the keys do not work in the front passenger door (can be locked from the interior) and few others. . . all these tiny issues are easily fixable. but never bothered us enough to do it. The great part of being an older car are perks like the front seat fold flat. creating a bed in the car. if needed. the lines are beautifully elegant (instead of the "used soap" shape of most modern cars!) and the details. with all the chrome inside and out. are precious.

From a feature article from Hemmings Classic cars titled "1961-1962 American Motors Rambler Classic Custom 6: "Although American Motors technically dissolved in mid 1987. the love affair with AMC's automobiles is stronger than ever. They designed and built some of the most fuel efficient. best-styled and well-made cars of the 1950s & 1960s. AMC took a leadership role with their safer brake systems when they fitted all their cars with dual-circuit master cylinders. something GM didn't do for another five years. And according to Brian Yacino. national president of the American Motors Corporation Rambler Club. Rambler received an award from the Florida Chiropractic Association for "pioneering in the development of postural seat design". And unlike other carmakers of the day. AMC stressed safety when safety didn't sell. For example. the rear of the front seat backs were designed with extended crash-padding around the edges. sun visors were built for greater sun glare protection. and the full length of the dash was padded. including the lower edges. To further emphasize safety. the door latch striker plate was built with a spring-loaded device designed to keep doors from accidentally opening if not closed securely. "

This car was recently featured in a movie to be released any day now.

It has current registration and a California title. This car is our everyday driver and our cool surf mobile (racks not included in sale). It is a classic beauty. we simply realized that we do not need a third car and cannot afford having 3 cars with only one teacher salary in the family.
