Drive a car that turns heads! Young people will ask. “What is that?” Older people. who know. will just nod their heads and smile.
Bred to survive the grueling rallies of Europe and Africa and designed by a company that builds supersonic jet fighters. the Saab 96 is truly a classic. This specimen. the 1968 De Luxe model. in Cream White. is powered by the V4 with a Weber 34 ICH. Its overall condition is "good" to "very good. "  It has good paint and is clean inside and out. It has a new battery and a recent tune up. The freewheel still works! The De Luxe model came with air-conditioning and I have the compressor.
This 96 spent most of its life in California and had a stay in Florida back the early 1990's. It has worn Georgia plates since 2000. The previous owner restored classic cars and acquired it from a gentleman who worked for Porsche and was transferred back to Europe. It has been well kept and has none of the typical Saab 96 rust issues.
I acquired the 96 about two years ago as a weekend driver but have driven it less than 200 miles. I should have purchased some "spare weekends" to go with the car.
So. What prevents this 96 from making a cross country drive?  It needs new tires. The current Vredestien Sprints are dry rotting.  The speedometer cable needs a new adapter to the transmission. It's a plastic piece that cost about $10 and requires about 20 minutes to install.  The clutch is stuck to the flywheel. This is the second time this has occurred and is caused by lack of use. We remedied this issue last time by driving it around in 2nd gear with the clutch pedal engaged and stopping abruptly. If the above  issues are solved. then all you will need is gas and a few "spare weekends. "  Please ask questions prior to bidding and thanks for looking!
