Land Rover Series I 1957 Unique Opportunity

Sale price: $12,500.00 make an offer

Seller's notes: "Unique opportunity - impossible to find a Series I like this. Absolutely original bodywork, and interior. Gloriously old, worn and patinated, she is no fluffed poodle but a proper British Bulldog. Green paint has lost its shine, worn smooth down to shiny aluminium in many places. Interior shows every one of the 56 years with glorious character. Externally the Landie is historic in what we would call 'Barn Find' condition, BUT, solid as rock and mechanically excellent, with a powerful diesel engine installed that means it reaches 70 mph. No expense spared in keeping this English institution in peak condition, you try finding another like this in a world of over-restored Garage Queens. The toast of London, nothing cooler on a sunny day with the screen down and the doors off, knowing you will never see another like it. You don't need to spend £1M to feel the wind in your face with a Bentley Blower, this is cheaper and cooler! Analogue motoring for a Digital age."

You try finding another like this. it took me forever.
The pride of post-war Britain. 755 YUK started life on an English hill farm. and when you first see this Landie. you will want to buy the old farmer a pint. He was mechanically obsessive. but thankfully left the bodywork completely alone. to acquire the kind of patina that has suddenly become so sought after that people across England are trying to 'antique' their own cars.
YUK is original inside and out. gloriously worn and  patinated. no show pony but a true blue-blood. Some green paint still on most panels. but she has totally lost any shine. and beautifully worn down to the aluminium panel work underneath in many places. rubbed smooth by a thousand sheep and the famous English weather. The interior shows every one of the 56 years with glorious character. At shows. this is the one that attracts the attention. not the shiny mirror finish garage queens. Lets be honest. 1950's England did not make them that shiny to start with! It seems that no one has let their Landie age gracefully. Who on earth wants to drive a freshly painted 1957 car?!
What makes YUK so special is that underneath the 'Barn Find' bodywork she is solid as rock. The chassis is worthy of Isambard Kingdom Brunel. and the previous owner swapped the knackered engine for a strong Japanese unit. good for 70mph! No expense has been spared on the mechanics - in fact. I have spent a bloody fortune on it keeping it hunky dory and ticket boo. On a sunny day with the screen down and the doors off. just amazing. On the beach. in the forest. so capable and so cool.
Proper seatbelts for 7 passengers installed to keep my kids and their friends safe and secure. Also comes complete with original hoops and a new old canvas top but I never use either.
Any inspection is welcome. No MOT or Road Tax necessary for UK buyers as pre 1960. I can happily transfer the old girl to Liverpool docks if you choose to ship from there. and liaise with the shipping agents for you.
Go on. tempt me before the summer comes to England and I change my mind!
Reserve will be set at $15. 00. Payment should be via Paypal or direct to a UK bank account (both accept USD).  I am not a trade seller but a private individual with a small collection of old Land Rovers. Finally. in case you are wondering. the reason why this is a new eBay account is because my UK eBay account does not allow international listings.
