BEAUTIFUL NASH FINISHED IN ATTRACTIVE TWO-TONE BLUE! A PADDED VINYL TOP AND REAR MOUNT SPARE MAKE THIS A TREMENDOUS OPPORTUNITY TO OWN A PRE-WAR CLASSIC! SPECIFICATIONS Year 1926 Make Nash Model Special Six Coupe VIN A-49225 Mileage 52. 78 Engine 207ci Cylinders Inline 6 Transmission 3 Speed Manual Title Clear Color Medium Blue / Light Blue Interior Color Black DESCRIPTION The Nash 230 Series. known to the public as the “Special Six”. debuted on July 1. 1925 alongside its big brother. the Series 260 “Advanced Six. ” Replacing the Nash Four. the new Special Six came standard with a new 207. 4 OHV Inline-6 with seven main bearings. solid lifters and a whopping 47 horsepower at 2200 rpm. This new engine with 4 additional bearings drastically increased oil flow. thereby increasing delivery and effectively lengthening the lifetime of the motor. This was described in detail to customers in brochures titled “Why 7?” Continuing with the softened lines of the upscale Series 260 cars. the car was available in seven different body styles. ranging in price from a $1115 2-door roadster to a $1545 4-door special sedan. Slotting in at a reasonable $1165 was the sleek and functional coupe. Weighing only 3. 30 pounds. the car was plenty quick among its competitors and with the wheels near the corners of its 112. 5 inch wheelbase. it was a very refined ride. The 230 Series also boasted the sportiest rear end of any 1926 Nash. with a 4. 9:1 ratio. All said and done. Nash production increased by 60% to 135. 20 for the year and was accountable for 3. 6% of all new car registrations.
The car was updated again in 1927. bringing minor styling changes and engine bore enlarged by another 1/8 inch for a total displacement of 224 cubic inches. Compression ratio was 4. 69:1 and horsepower was 52 @ 2600 rpm. The 1927 Nash 235 Business Coupe once again weighed 3. 30 pounds and cost $1165. Rear end became a little more speed friendly with a 4. 67:1 ratio. Production was well over 100. 00 again with 122. 06 and Nash market share grew again to 4. 2%!
Although titled as a 1926. we have every indication based on serial number sequencing and casting date codes that our car is actually a 1927 model.
That said. we are thrilled to offer this Nash Special Six 235 Coupe. Serial # A-49225 is finished in a medium blue / light blue two-tone with black stripe. In addition. the car has a padded black vinyl roof and blue disk wheels. This Nash is further fitted with fender and cowl lights. kick plates. driver side mirror. “stop” brake light. rear mount spare tire with split tri-bumpers. pop-out windshield. dual map pockets and interior flower holders! All serial plates. stampings and casting numbers are still present and show this car to be Body 8123-67 finished by the Seaman Body Corporation of Milwaukee. Wisconsin.
While the car appears to have been restored a while back and shows a nice patina. it certainly still holds a shine and is a wonderful driver. In addition. the car has a new fuel pump and fairly new running board wood. The odometer indicates only 52. 78 miles which we believe to actual from new. but do not have enough documentation to support an original mileage claim. The car presents a wonderful opportunity to own a fully functioning piece of 1920s American history. While Model As and early Chevys have proven to be very popular. the Nash certainly offers access to a more unique vehicle without the price premium. We welcome any questions you have about this wonderful car. world-wide international shipping arrangements. or financing options!
