“We think of the Bronco as neither a conventional car nor a truck, but as a vehicle which combines the best of both worlds, then-Ford Vice President Donald Frey said in a press memo during the launch. It can serve as a family sedan, a sports roadster, a snow plow, or a farm or civil defense vehicle. It has been designed to go anywhere and do nearly anything – The early Bronco kind of symbolizes the rugged individualism of the Old West”

The original Bronco was created as an answer to the International Harvester Scout and Jeep CJ-5. Ford built the first Bronco for ranchers, outdoorsmen and utility-company workers who had to get off the beaten path with regularity.

The Ford Bronco, introduced in 1966, changed little over succeeding years, a testament to its excellent design and popularity. Tough, practical, and simple, the Bronco served a particular purpose and did so exceedingly well. The Bronco's reputation took off quickly and soon became one of Jeep's biggest competitors. This relatively small first-generation four-wheel-drive vehicle developed a loyal following, allowing it to remain in production up until the 1977 model year. With classic styling, easy access to parts, off-road versatility, and a rugged reputation, these early Broncos are treasured by enthusiasts and collectors—now more than ever.

Speedart Motorsports is delighted to offer for sale this iconic wagon in a highly original specification.

The Bronco was acquired by its first custodian in the state of Kentucky which resided for several decades. Although not a concourse quality, a sympathetic restoration process was executed on a complete, non-problematic truck. The Bronco retains an excellent original core structure, the frame, floors and underside show no evidence of major incidents with an excellent door and panel fit. The automobile was re-sprayed to its original Sequoia Brown enamel with the removable hard top finished appropriately in Wimbledon White. The chrome and trim are complete and remain in wonderful condition.

The parchment interior shows extremely fresh and with the exception of a three-spoke GT Grant steering wheel and a later period radio cassette unit everything is correct to its original configuration.

Mechanically, this Bronco is on the button with excellent on and off road manners. The 302 cci motor is performing as it should with the 4-wheel drive engaging flawlessly.

Furthermore, chassis 2541 was highly equipped from the factory with some desired options at the time, like: power steering, power brakes, transmission cooler, column shift, interior spare tire mount, etc.

While other vintage SUVs, such as the Toyota FJ Cruiser and the Land Rover Defender, have fielded high prices and wild popularity among cool-kid collectors in the U.S. since the turn of the last century, it took longer for Broncos to emerge, that attitude is changing. Millennials were the first generation to mature parallel with the SUV phenomenon, which continues to dominate the new-car market. So it's only natural that as time passes, that proximity and ensuing affinity would translate into increased appetite for vintage SUVs – especially American ones, which are cheaper and more reliable than their European counterparts. Prices on these vintage jewels are rising so this is an opportunity not to be missed.
