1925 Willys Knight Rare Time Capsule Original Classic Luxury Vintage Touring T A for sale
Current customer rating:
This auction is for a very rare and meticulously cared for 1925 Willys Knight Model 65 3 Door Touring Sedan. Owned by The Reverend C. J. Bartlett of Menlo Park California this automobile has been carefully preserved and is a true time capsule directly from the roaring 20 s. Included with this auction will be extensive manuals. history and documentation.
The motor is the original Knight designed sleeve motor and it starts willingly and runs well. The only non original update I could find on the car was a 6 volt electric fuel pump and regulator (which I was thankful for) that runs through the original brass vacum cannister on the firewall. The motor has good power with minimal smoke. It does suffer from an annoying exhaust leak that will need to be dealt with. The choke. throttle and advance trim is working perfectly on the steering wheel. making for easy start ups. Clutch is working well. it is at the end of peddle so will require some adjustment to your preference there. Transmission is shifting well through the 3 forward gears and reverse is without issue. I have not driven the Willys far just around the neighborhood and with most early cars it is a handful and takes some getting used to but with some time behind the wheel could easily be a really comfortable driver. Differential is strong and makes no noise or whine. Electrical is all working including the gauges and lights. Mechanical brakes are functioning well including the hand E brake. That amazing Radiator holds water and seems to keep the engine quite cool even when out on a 80 degree day last weekend.
As for the frame. suspension. body and interior there's really not much to say but true musuem quality car. Please look over the pictures carefully and play the video – Apologize in advance for my poor driving in the video I have a size 14 shoe which have trouble with “delicate” machinery handling. (for the really serious buyers I have a painfully slow and detailed ‘walk around' video I will send to you. just ask by email). The Frame & Body shows no sign of damage from accident or rust. ever. Body and Paint is a 8 or even a 9 to some with a few tiny random scratches. hand painted pinstripe is classy and in good order. Glass is all nice and functional. as well as the window and door mechanisms. Interior is really beautiful with one flaw above the drivers head which looks like one time minor water damage from an unknowing car washers hose which stained the headliner material slightly. The wood rims look almost brand new and the white wall tires have plenty of tread and show no cracking or checking.
