1955 MERCEDES-BENZ Type 300 c Adi Adenauer with Fuel-Injected 300 d M 189 Engine

This vehicle came to us from a long time customer.

Since its arrival here. the car has been thoroughly inspected and serviced by Albrecht Stachel. Type 300 technical advisor to the Mercedes-Benz Club of North America. and we can report the following:

This 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 c is roadworthy! It starts and runs nicely. and it stops well.

- Car has been professionally retrofitted with the 180 HP fuel-injected M 189 engine as found in model 300 d
- Engine cylinder compression test results are excellent at 155-160 psi on all 6 cylinders
- Automatic transmission has been recently rebuilt it performs very well. shifting smoothly. with none of that common funky drop into top gear
- Differential has a new flexible rear axle boot
- Radiator is nice. and the cooling system has all new hoses
- All fluids are fresh. having been lately changed
- Brake system works well with no pulling

- Front wheel cylinders have been re-sleeved in brass by White Post Restoration

- New front and rear flexible brake hoses

- New rear stainless steel brake lines

- New front brake shoes
- New radial tires they are quiet and behave well
- Exhaust system is fresh aftermarket
- Fuel system has been redone:

- Fuel tank removed. cleaned. and sealed

- Upright electric fuel pump installed

- New steel fuel lines

- New fuel filters
- Exterior chrome trim is complete and essentially straight with very few dents
- Interior chrome trim is complete and in very nice condition
- Interior wooden trim is original. has seen a sloppy coat of varnish over the original finish. and shows no evidence of water penetration
- Front side windows have been lubricated and work well
- Right rear window mechanisms have been lubricated and work nicely
- Left rear window is inoperable. due to rail problems
- All four doors and latch mechanisms have been adjusted. lubricated. and work smoothly
- Seats are comfortable
- Some carpets are original
- All glass is in nice condition
- Windshield is quite new. with one mark
- Sheet metal has been affected by rust. particularly in the unseen sections of the rear
- Electrical wiring harness is original and needs to be addressed- Odometer reading is 70. 03. but actual mileage is unknown

This car offers the collector a rare combination of body and drivetrain.

It is already in competent mechanical order. is complete. and has seen no misguided attempts at restoration or body work.
