1986 GMC Suburban Sierra

You are looking at a 1986 GMC Suburban Sierra 2500 4 x 4 was ordered new in 1985 from Chuck's GMC in Eugene, Oregon by an educational publishing corporation. The Suburban was in continuous use from late 1985 to 2020 at a private retreat the corporation used for educational conferences in Vida, Oregon on the Mc Kenzie River. The corporation wanted a heavy duty utilitarian vehicle and couldn't find what they were looking for in inventory at retail GM dealerships. I was told by the 90 something year old CEO when I purchased it that this special order GMC took approximately 3 months to complete. I'm the second owner and used the Suburban at my cabin for the past two summers.The suburban is equipped from the factory with a carbureted 5.7 liter 350 V 8 and HD Turbo 400 3 speed transmission with cooler, heavy duty radiator, 3.73 differentials, rear limited slip and has a 40 gallon fuel tank with the optional skid plate. The Suburban has the original dual exhaust and did not have catalysts from the factory due to the the 3/4 ton GVW loop hole. It did originally have a smog pump that was removed at some point and has an aftermarket Edelbrock carburetor that was installed under previous ownership. The Suburban doesn't smoke, use oil or have any unusual noises and always starts right up! The power steering has a small drip and master cylinder was recently replaced. The AC is inoperative and would need to be converted to 134 if someone decides to repair it. The interior fan works intermittently and will need to be repaired. The radio is aftermarket and works perfectly. The tires are in great shape but are timed out based on the DOT date. The spare has never been down but is 35 years old!. The corporation CEO/Ph D certified the Suburban had 94,288 actual miles when I purchased it July 17, 2020. The Suburban had never left Lane County where it was delivered new until my purchase. GMC square body trucks had a 5 digit odometer until the 1990 model year. A shop in Walterville, Oregon added a 1 to the 41,541 mile reading 7/14/1999. The incorrect 141,541 odometer reading on the 7/14/99 service created a mileage discrepancy in Auto Check and Carfax. The shop in Walterville is under new ownership with a different name. I submitted the inaccuracies to Carfax to correct multiple times but never received a response. The Suburban currently has 95,143 miles which are the actual miles. Overall, the Suburban is tight and runs and drives great!The body overall is very solid and has never been in an accident. Oregon has traditionally never used road salt which explains the solid body. The Suburban has dings and small dents including a larger dent near the fuel filler lid. The Suburban suffers from GM paint failure (common with GM trucks in the 80's and 90's). It was repainted once due to paint failure but is starting to peel again in spots. There's surface rust in a few spots but very little perforation other than seen on the top of the driver and passengers rocker panel. This is a common spot on square bodies that starts with corrosion near the door deals. The floors are perfectly solid but have a few areas of surface rust. If you live in a dry arid climate it could be left alone or brought up to the next level with a new paint job. Overall, the truck looks great and I have gotten lots of compliments.
