This is a no reserve auction!True 242 GTO, not a clone. This car sat in a barn for 14 years until the barn roof partially collapsed, damaging the top frame and putting small dents in the left front fender and the right rear quarter panel. The dents are nothing that cannot be easily fixed. I purchased this car years ago with the idea that I would restore it on a rotisserie, however, after collecting a whole lot of very nice parts I have decided that another restoration for me is probably not in the cards as I now have too many other outside interests (namely a ranch and four grandchildren). My plan was to convert the car from the present Turbohydramatic transmission to either a Muncie four speed or perhaps a Tremec five speed. I had the gas tank professionally drained and cleaned, installed new points and plugs, changed the oil and filter and rebuilt the carburetor and the car started right up and now runs strong. The transmission shifts as it should. The motor is a 400 XH block that came out of a 1967 full size Pontiac. It is equipped with a Holley carb but the choke pull-off isn't working right and the car needs to be manually choked to get it started. I didn't mess too much with the carb, as I had purchased a YS motor that was originally in a 67 GTO and had it professionally rebuilt to someday put in the car. I replaced the master cylinder and all four wheel cylinders so the car has brakes, although they need to be bled properly to get the best performance. I had also planned to convert the car to power front disc brakes so I didn't waste too much time on braking issues after getting the brakes working. The power top works well and takes the top frame and what's left of the roof up and down without issues. The parking brake holds the car well. Although the car runs and drives I would not take it out on the road, as there are too many issues that would preclude that, at least for me. The exhaust system is shot and needs to be totally replaced. The tires all have tread but three of them are old and I wouldn't trust them. One had separated about a year ago so I purchased a new tire which is on the passenger side front. If someone wanted to address the brakes, the tires, and the exhaust issues, as well as the choke, they could probably tweak the car enough to make it a driver as is and enjoy it as you work on it. Oh, and there's no roof, so only take it out on clear days. The car has some rust issues in some odd places. The floor pan has been patched and has several small holes in it now, probably from water seeping in from the top after the barn collapsed on it. The entire underbody had been undercoated with rustproofing, which probably saved it from a lot of rust issues. I have crawled under the car to inspect the floor but cannot take pictures because I do not have a lift to put the car on. I would suggest you should count on replacing the floor pan but you may find that that isn't necessary when you get into it. Someone began cutting out the trunk pan, I guess to patch it, but thankfully they stopped before they caused problems for whoever will eventually replace the pan. Two sections of the trunk pan have been cut out, leaving large holes. If I were restoring this car I would replace both the floor pan and the trunk pan, but that's just how I do my restorations; I want them done right. I don't see any evidence of bondo in the car and it passed the magnet tests, but who knows what you may find when you take the car to have it blasted. I see no evidence of any patching in the front fenders or quarter panels, but the rocker panels do have some rust in them where they meet the floor pan and that should be addressed. There are a few small patches of rust near the windshield but nothing major. The front bumper has a large rust spot on the passenger side; I don't know if it can be salvaged or not, but since I purchased another original and had it re-chromed I wasn't concerned about that. I do have PHS documentation on the car, but didn't want to waste the pictures on it. I can send pics of it to anyone who is interested. It just shows a Tyrol blue convertible, with the usual equipment (power top, power steering, radio, seat belts, etc.). The car does have rally gauges, but whoever swapped the motor apparently didn't change out the sending units and therefore they are not working. The dash pad is in excellent condition, no cracks or distortions. The glass is intact but needs a good deep cleaning. The convertible top was in very bad shape and I tore a good bit of it off trying to figure out what needed to be fixed on the top frame. I couldn't figure it out and just bought another used frame, although the original can probably be fixed. The upholstery is not good and should all be replaced along with the carpet. I have purchased a significant number of high quality parts to put on this car if I were to restore it. Those parts are NOT included with the sale of the car, however, I will make an extraordinary deal on them to whoever purchases the car. They are as follows; An original 1967 YS motor from a 1967 GTO which I had professionally rebuilt. Includes engine stand. Never been started but is close to stock. Bored .030 over with a very mild cam. An original and very rare 7027262 carburetor and a very nice original air cleaner. Carb may be usable as is but I would put a kit in it at the least. Most Pontiac guys know what this carb is worth. An original 1967 GTO distributor An original 67 four speed console, excellent condition An original 67 Hurst four speed shifter An original 67 Bell Housing An original 67 front bumper which I sent to Tri-City Plating in Elizabethton, Tennessee to have replated A replacement top frame from a 67 Lemans convertible Four Cragar SS mag wheels with Firestone Firehawk tires. The wheels are nearly new and look fabulous. Tires have lots of life left. A 1967 GTO posi differential stamped YF (3.23 gears) complete with axles A Muncie four speed transmission, condition unknown so count on rebuilding it A set of new body mounts A set of pedals for a 1967 manual transmission A body carA set of reproduction front grills An Offenhauser dual quad intake and carbs setup (just in case I got a wild hair) Carbs need rebuilt and replating. A new flexplate in case I decided to keep the Turbohydramatic in the car Two original remote control outside review mirrors, use one or both. A used, but in very good condition, dash harness from a 67 GTO four speed car A new engine harness (M&H Fabricators) AM-FM USA-1 Pontiac in dash radio with cassette playerI think I have a set of outer and inner rocker panel body panels and will include them if I can find them. Other smaller parts  The market value, and my approximate cost of these parts is about $16,000. Whoever buys this car will have the opportunity to purchased them from me for $8000 which is a steal. My loss is your gain, but that's the way this business goes. I will NOT be selling these parts separately from the car. If the car doesn't sell then I will complete the restoration myself, much to my wife's chagrin, and I'll need the parts. In fact, part of me really does want to do that.  The car and the parts are mostly located outside Fredericksburg, Texas, in the beautiful Texas Hill Country. Also, instead of wasting a lot of money on shipping, why not fly in to San Antonio, rent a truck and come load all of this up and take it home, probably for about the same money or even less?  Plus you get to enjoy the usually mild Texas winter weather.Just to reiterate, this auction is FOR THE CAR ONLY.
