Daimler DE36 7 Seater Limousine (1954) for sale

Current customer rating: current rating for this car(2.25) based on 482 votes

A rare opportunity to purchase the last Hooper built Straight Eight Daimler DE36. 7 seater limousine.

The car is MOT'd until 17/07/2014. is in good original condition and drives fantastically. The car was formally owned by a Daimler enthusiast/specialist and whilst in my ownership has been maintained by a very good family friend who is a trained classic car mechanic. There are some spare parts included with the car just in case anything is needed in the future for peace of mind. The car is very well known in the Daimler and Lanchester owners club and has been featured in the club magazine.

The DE36 features a Straight Eight 5480cc engine and a pre-selector manual gearbox utilising a liquid flywheel which still gives smooth. leak free service. This particular DE36 features 7 seats over the usual 5 as can be seen in the pictures. The original handbook has survived all this time and is also included with the car.

The car has a great history; it started life with Sir Arthur James Elvin (registration plate reads AJE1 to match his name) who in 1927 was the managing director of Wembley Stadium and later was awarded an MBE as well as a knighthood. Sir Arthur insisted that he be able to wear his top hat whilst sat in the back of his Daimler Limousine. so the roof was raised by 1. 75 inches by the coachbuilders - making this limousine extremely rare. The car almost did not exist as when Sir Arthur visited the coachbuilders all of the cars had been allocated. Sir Arthur was able to persuade them to add another car to the production run making this one effectively the 11th car built out of a planned run of 10.

The reason for the sale of this car is lack of space. the car has been owned by me since 2002 so it is with regret that I am selling.  Viewing welcomed of this lovely car brimming with character. please contact me if you require more information or pictures.
