Selling my much loved 356 speedster
The Martin and Walker Technic Speedster was introduced in 1997 to complement their 550 Spyder which has been in continuous production since 1987.
It is built on the traditional and well proven shortened Volkswagen Beetle chassis using a GRP bodyshell with a bonded in steel sub-frame for additional strength and rigidity.
During development of the sub-frame. particular attention was given to making sure the relationship between bodyshell and chassis would give the car the correct 'stance' without having to lower the suspension excessively which can cause undesirable geometry changes.
Using their previous experience in restoring and owning many original 356 models. they have sourced many parts and accessories to enable them to build an accurate reproduction of this iconic Speedster.
Due to work and family commitments I finally concede that I will never finish this much admired and beautiful replica.
She's painted in old English white (cream) with red carpets and red vinyl seats.
The engine is a 1955 cc VW air cooled beetle engine with twin 40" webers.
Almost finished. all the hard work is done. only requires a 4 or 5 weekends to complete.
Everything was mounted and fitted then stripped off for painting. 50%+ is back together but 1 door still needs its latches fitted and the bonnet and boot need the release cables connected.
The engine is in but needs the tin wear and carbs fitted.
Interior carpets and seats need fitting and bolting down.
I've posted a picture of the finished car but will take some of the kit asap.
