“Twisted” as in Lemon twist yellow, also not an “R” code (factory hemi) car. It's a “G” code 318 car that actually came from the factory with a 4 speed and is the highly desirable color of High impact Lemon Twist yellow, black vinyl top and black guts.  The boat anchor 318 is long gone (so is the 4 speed and pedals) and a date code correct 1970 426 Hemi elephant motor sits in its place with a torqueflight trans. Both need rebuilt and both ARE fully rebuildable.

Now before everyone starts emailing me asking for the vin# on the hemi block I already know what car this motor came in, who owns it and where its at. The bizarre thing is I actually used to own the car and sold it 25 years ago as a body only. It is a 1970 Roadrunner, 4 speed, track pack car and its currently restored with an ex-drag boat motor sitting in a garage in Seattle and the owner doesn't want to deal with the hassle of changing out the motors so here we are. Little did I know that its orig motor would find its way to me 25 yrs later.

Now that we have all that out of the way let me tell you about the car.

All 4 frame rails and all the structural areas of the car were fine but it needed full floor pan, LH toe pan, trunk pan, both trunk extensions, wheel houses, roof skin, both outer windshield A pillars, inner fender LH under batt tray, deck filler panel and both quarters replaced.  All the work was done professionally and all the underlying metal and structure was blasted, cleaned, coated with a rust preventative chemical and then sprayed in 2 coats of PPG epoxy primer. I have provided pix of the progression for all to see. This car is pretty darn close to rust free and super duper solid. With the work done to protect the insides of the frame rails it is arguably better than new. It was a factory undercoated car and fortunately that saved all the structural areas from corrosion. Most undercoating has been scrapped off now. It also does not appear to have any evidence of any collisions. The fenders are original and have been stripped to bare metal, misc dents and dings hammered out and then sprayed in 2 coats of epoxy primer. Each fender got a small 2x5 metal patch at bottom of dog leg. There is no bondo or body filler of any kind on either fender so you can see the actual condition of each one. The doors got no work and need none. They are perfect. The deck lid is the orig '70 vintage with the spoiler cut outs for the '70 wing ('71 was diff) and rear lip was stripped to bare metal, treated with rust preventative chemical and then sprayed in 2 coats of PPG epoxy primer. It is in great shape. Both front and rear windshield channels have been cleaned out, repaired as needed and are ready to receive glass. The hood is super solid too. It has its orig 8-3/4 rear end and leaf springs and is a one legger, probably a 3:23. The dash vin plate and door vin decal are also present as are the orig keys.

The grill and grill trim are brand new as is the front valance. I also have all of the front and rear windshield trim, roof rail trim and roof weather strip trim, both wiper arms, defroster ductwork, both seat belt retractors, overhead lap belts and 2 of the rear seat belts but no buckles, both headlights and retaining rings all 4 side markers and lights.  Both rear valence brackets. Engine wiring harness, tail light wiring harness, under dash wiring harness all headliner bows, both kick panels, both cowl screens, both gas tank straps one muffler shield and exhaust tip hanger. The seats obviously need redone but the frames are good. All 4 door panels are in good shape but need a redye. I also have all the interior trim except for the 2 rear bottom pieces. The original rear bumper is straight as an arrow and all the orig glass (except windshield) is present and in good shape (the quarter glass tracks were cleaned and regreased when quarters were off) and yes, the old skool slots go with the car and have really good tires on them.

Factory original fairly complete 426 Hemi engine out of a '70 Roadrunner. Block has been cleaned and magged at my machinist shop (Westside machine Houston, TX) and it is .030 bored with no cracks in cylinders, lifter valley or freeze plug areas. Has no ring ridge and should clean up at .040. The cylinders look so good you could probably run it as is if you had a set of .030 pistons. I have a complete set of rods but no pistons. Heads have been cleaned and magged as well. No cracks or damage to any part of either head. Both are 2780559 cast in 1969 correct for 1970 production. Crank is standard on mains and .010 on rod throws. Includes the original black wrinkle finish valve covers (that have been blasted and restored to the correct wrinkle finish) with spark plug tubes and complete original rocker shaft and adjustable rockers setup. Also have orig never cut intake, timing chain cover and correct water pump housing. Includes a deep sump 7 quart oil pan. This is a very rebuildable core. I was originally gonna put this motor in my '71 ‘Cuda but decided to go the late model route. I would not have bought it if I had any doubt it was rebuildable. Buy with confidence.

If you are looking for a '70 ‘Cuda project to build, this car is the straightest, cleanest one you will find anywhere and all the gaps are uniform and consistent. It is also the super kool kolor of Lemon twist yellow. It would have cost $30-40k to have Graveyard cars get it to this point and that's without the cost of the car and the Hemi.  Don't miss out.
