Volkswagen MK1 Caddy Pickup 1986 1.6TD 5 Speed manual.

Your looking at a 1.6TD SB engine code with an 020 gearbox 5 speed gearbox.

I've owned this caddy for the last 3 years (since June 2019), where it's been used as a daily through out summer and stored through winter, as-well as a weekend warrior taking the bikes out.

This caddy I would say is at the stage now where it just needs all of the smaller touch up bits done for completing, Mainly bodywork/Paintwork as it's a little rough. Unless someone's planning a 1.8T, VR6 or a more standard engine swap then this'll probably be ideal.

Also have photo's of the project throughout my ownerships of all the jobs undertaken.

Good bits:

Porsche tombstone 944 electric seats1.6TD engine, super tuneable. Reconditioned turbo 2019New alternator 2020Full custom stainless exhaust Lowered all round (Adjustable front + 25mm Rear blocks with flipped axle)KONI sport yellow rear dampers 2020Majority of the bigger welding jobs are completed.MOT until 24/05/22 (should pass again just needs rear fog light fitting, Wiring hidden so plug and play)Disk brakes upfront + 231mm rear drums Brakes freshly bled within the last 6 months. 7” Led Headlights with Indicator/side light integrated. Freshly re-sprayed bonnet and scuttle panel Banded steel alloys (vinyl sprayed so can be pealed off, currently in primer underneath) New Sach's 210mm clutch kit 2020New starter motor 2019New Glow plugs in 2019New Radiator 2021Coolant also changed yearly due to amount of times I've had to empty itHandbrake cable replaced RH.Will come with brand new Poly-Bush's for Leaf spring

What I think needs doing:

interior carpets (although I was never going to put carpets in so personal choice, Although this does make it Noisy as there's no sound deadening)Dashboard could do with a refurb.Re-spray/Touch up on paintwork (primer starting to show through on panels, scratches in areas, ding on wing, mismatch rear window area due to using a rattle can at the time. I also never saw any point doing a full respray until majority of rust areas were gone, And now I've decided to get a shell)Small ding on wing Tailgate needs straightening + small dent on lower.Likely needs a new instrument cluster if it bothers you (Rev counter never worked, even after going through wiring diagrams, mileage no longer goes up) MPH Clock works but shaky. Also Oil pressure light is odd. When engine is up to temperature and when your NOT not accelerating it goes nuts, but when your accelerating it's normal. I've been on journeys longer than 2 hours so i know it can't be serious.Clutch slips on high revs (clutch has been replaced as it was much worse, but still slips slightly)Heater box removed.Added:Slight water leak at rear bulkhead. Can develop an air lock in the radiator when not driven for a while. Easy to resolve.I've loved this Caddy, it's just awesome and buck load of character. But too far along to be cut up for what my next intentions are.I'm not saying this Caddy's perfect. Because it's not, I'm just being as honest as I can. Plenty to tinker with but also very able to be driven around.
