Modified and Tax / MOT exempt unique Triumph Spitfire. The original blown engine was replaced with a 2 Ltr Zetec, it has custom seats made by Jaguar, upgraded GT6 brakes, upgraded and alterable suspension, alloy wheels, wider tyres, removable stereo with 4 speakers, hard wired Sat Nav & Dash Cam (no wires showing), USB charging socket, centre console fitted, GT6 fibreglass lightweight bonnet, new sills, new door skins, new carpets, new fuel pump, roll bar, front fog lamps, powder coated front bumpers and door handles, modified rear lights and bumpers and it is unbelievable fun to drive. This does not suffer from the unreliability or vague road handling of the "original" whilst it still does retain those classic looks. I have the soft top roof for it but it isn't fitted (I think it ruins the look) and I have never used it, the whole fun of this car is open top driving and if it rains I just put a cap on :) . The soft top roof was dismantled and the entire frame rust treated and then powder coated.I have a spare 3 piece dash for it should you want to take it back to an original look inside and it comes with various other spares and bits. It was stripped down and rebuilt (I have many of the pictures of this process) and a lot more than what is being asked has been spent on it. It was originally factory blue but has been painted in a Ford Red.There is a slight crack in the paint on the boot but unless you are really looking for it, it is not noticeable. The wiring in the boot to the modified lights needs tidying up (hiding) and although I have the felt to line the boot (which will come with the car) I have never gotten around to cutting and fitting it. Even with the modifications declared it is only just over a hundred pounds per year to insure fully comp on classic insurance. The insurance company have given a replacement value of £10K.Only selling due to the purchase of a 4WD and more passengers than the Spitfire has seats. It is now sitting in my garage which is a crime against motoring, this needs to be driven and enjoyed.I do have the fibreglass hard top roof which was also painted at the same time as the car but it is in Cannock as I never bothered to fit it and needed somewhere to store it. The buyer will be welcome to collect that at no additional cost although I have not seen it for a while so it may be a bit ropey, that is the one bit that I can not personally vouch for.I have owned this for a few years and carried out or supervised most of the rebuild and repaint. It is a very good finish but this is not a purists concourse car, it is a roadster that needs to be driven. I have had months of fun in this in all weathers and have completed several long runs with the well established owners club. My (then) 19 year old son got insured to drive for an additional £81.00 per year fully comp! You are welcome to view and to test drive but ONLY if you can show and prove that you are insured fully comp to take it out, I got stung many years ago by someone test driving a car I was selling believing that their insurance covered them fully comp only to find that their insurance was 3rd party only after they crashed it.
