Welcome to the sale of my cal look bug. Selling to help finance a new project. Main points below, if you've any more questions more than happy to answer them. A labour of love with over £11k poured into it over a number of years. Now ready for it's next owner, it would make a perfect winter project with little work needed to make it show ready for next Spring. It's a '71, I bought it as a shell the previous had planned on restoring so all welding had been done. No more needs doing, no signs of rust. Dry stored. All the work was completed about 3yrs ago, I have put about 3000miles on it in those 3yrs. New carpets throughout grey tweed, new upholstered big biscuit rear seat and matching door cards. The bomber seats could be easily swapped out for stock, they are bolted on to electric adjustable ford ranger mounts. Vintage speed short shifter is coupled to a 1300gbox rebuilt by John Walkett with a long 3rd and 4th, so cruises at 70mph all day at low revs. Smoothed dash with spitfire gauges. Airhorns under the bonnet. Adjustable front beam. 4 new john brown racing rims, with as good as new tyres. T bar bumpers. The real fun bit. In the boot a Arnie Levics of Somerset built 1776cc supercharged engine. Running a joeblow supercharger kit and electronic ignition. About 115/120bhp. Full flow case. Running a trick cam and thicker heads. Could take more power but I wanted a bit of go but reliability was key. Pulls hard and makes a great sound through a vintage speed exhaust(new a couple of months ago). Custom made decklid so it can run shut without the need of stand offs. I wanted to keep a mod'd stock look.Sale comes with 90% of the first owners history, a load of spares including most of the kit to reinstall the heater. Spare supercharger belter. dynamo pulleys. and assorted bits. I have almost no receipts as my admin is pants and I thought I'd never sell it. The engine alone was £4k and is so strong.Bad points. The exterior paint is original so has warn in a few areas. As you can see from the pic, its not bad by any means. All it really needs is a good valet and she presents really well. With a respray its 100% a show car.It can pop out of 4th when under hard acceleration, doesn't do that with an original shifter, so sale can come with the original or a short shifter with grenade. So see that as a vintage speed issue rather than a larger issue with the box. The engine and g'box have done about 2500miles since being built/rebuilt. Mainly with a trip to classic le mans a couple of summers back. The electric on the seats has failed. I'm not electrically mind, but the wiring is simple enough so shouldn't be a hard fix. Surprisingly comfy as is. I drove to classic le mans with him from Somerset !Based in Somerset, England. Collection from Somerset, can be delivered at extra cost.Happy to answer questions, advertised else where.(The first pic is most recent and shows the current exhaust and the one with the sale, the others are slight older when it had a friends turbo trip).
