1974 Volkswagen Thing 181 convertible

   This Volkswagen Thing 181 is exceptional ;   you can find others that may be shinier because they have been repainted or restored,  but I doubt that you will find one anywhere that is original and as clean/ nice/ rust free as this one.  This car has not spent one night outside in its life.   Always garaged.    ready to be driven anywhere ,  right now.     Same owner since 1977 @ 13000 miles.      Current mileage @ 53450 is verified original.     Have photo of the 1977 title (I sent it in last month to get title transferred to my name) .      Zero rust.   Original.     I bought this earlier this year to convert to Tesla A/C motor / batteries as I am moving to do electric classic car conversions at my shop (Zombie Motors) , and I thought this would be a great example / show car to let customers test out.     I bought this car because it is already perfect ,  and I always wanted a very clean Thing.      In the meantime,  I have already converted a Lotus Eclat ,  and don't have time for 2 x electric car conversions ,  and I also could use the money to roll into the down payment for a new house.     When I look for a cool old classic car I want to buy,  I am of the opinion that I would much rather buy a car with a few dents and dings / scratches and original non-restored paint and body than buy a car which looks very shiny and perfect , because it was repainted or restored.       As the saying goes,   " It is only original once"   This car is original.      The top and door tops/ windows are brand new and look great.     These are typically replaced every 10 years as they get cloudy/ cracked/ yellow.    Other than this,  exhaust/ muffler, and tires,   car is original as it was in 1974 when it was made.     Car is perfectly straight and rust free.   Original 1600cc engine starts easily,  and feels like it should.   4 speed transmission shifts great .  Brakes are strong and pull straight.        Car is ever fitted with an AM radio with one speaker,   and sounds like 1974.        Doors are perfect,   all accessories and lights work as they should.        I can not drive this car anywhere and not have at least 4 people yell 'COOL CAR!!' at me.     Definitely a friend-maker and more of a conversation starter than a beagle puppy.     I would not hesitate to drive this car anywhere,  right now,   so long as I was not in a big hurry as 60 MPH sort of has it tapped out.         IF you want to buy this car,  I recommend you call me.        If you want to sit back and see where the auction goes,   that can be fun,   but you are not going to buy the car for less than my reserve price is set at.    I am only selling this to save for a down payment on a house,   and so I am not going to sell it fast or cheap.      Forms of payment are : bank transfer / cash / check in the mail, wire / venmo/ etc.   NO paypal.    Credit cards are a possibility so long as you pay the 3.4% fee and sign an authorization.   I have clear Oregon title in my name ready to go to buyer.     I can store car for up to 30 days if you need time to get it collected.    I can help you arrange transport anywhere in the USA ,    at buyers expense.  Figure on $400 - $1500 depending on how far from zip code 97404 / Eugene Oregon you are.    This car has always been pampered since day one ,  and wants really nothing.    ... I take that back!   Engine does  have a small oil leak which I have not examined,   drips about 5 - 10 drops of oil wherever it is parked overnight.       Other than that ,     really does not want for anything.         What can I tell you?
