The 1989 944 Turbo S was my bucket list P-car when I found this very nice example in 2005, and as all the purchasing guide references state: “buy the best example that you can afford.”  This extremely well restored and genuine Linen Grey Metallic (W5) on black leather 944.951 with 117,050 original miles (113,500 when bought) with always working odometer/trip odometer is available for the person who has been shopping for an authentic, clean and affordable example of this model.  It has been adult-owned and garaged for over 28 of its 32 years, including the past 16 years in the hands of a detail-oriented and originality-minded Porschephile.  Everything was replaced or refreshed “bumper-to-bumper”, including a total out-of-chassis engine/transaxle/drivetrain rebuild (down to the main bearings and seals) so that it drives and feels like brand new. This example was 100% rebuilt to factory specs including some rare and unique P951 upgrades as known in P944/P951 online specialty interest group sites between 1995-2015. The vehicle had one accident recorded on CarFax in 2001 before I owned it, and none since.  Everything on the car looks and works like new at this time, however my time budget no longer allows me to work on the car to make it 100% mint, and with all transparency, it really needs to be driven more often, plus a few punch list items that should be completed by a responsible and serious new owner.  The car did require a number of hard to find OEM pieces that are often lost or discarded, and was finally awarded a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity in 2011. The front driver fender shows some minor road rash that was incurred in 2001; I do have a genuine OEM fender in perfect condition and available for purchase if desired. In addition, the new buyer should have the A/C recharged (R-12 cans provided with the sale) to restore the “blows ice cold” operation.  All major A/C components were replaced with OEM to work properly after recharging again. The engine oil (Mobil 1), coolant (pink Pentosin) and brake fluid (DOT 4) should also be replaced, then you can run this car on any street or track of your choice for many worry-free miles. The tires have 9/32” tread depth, and the M030 suspension has Koni-factory refreshed dampers and professionally balanced to factory specs at 115,700 miles. The brakes have 75%+ life remaining, and the battery was replaced with a Bosch unit in Nov 2019 at 116,700 miles.

This car came with the usual 1989 951 options (all working), including the noted M030 suspension, leather power seats, power windows and sunroof, cruise control, digital clock/lap timer, air conditioning, and 5-spd transaxle with limited slip differential.  I can provide the original Blaupunkt radio head unit and a newer digital upgrade unit, however all of the hard to reach 10-speakers and wiring have been refreshed. The engine idles rock solid at 900 rpm.  The expensive major services were done during the engine/drivetrain-out rebuild (including all timing components, new clutch with 90%+ life remaining, water pump, transaxle, Bosch OEM fuel pump) at 115,300 miles along with upgrade/non-factory options, including a ProMax DME/DLR (ECU) chip upgrade, aluminum flywheel (balanced), braided stainless steel fuel lines, Weltmeister quick shift transkit, refreshed axles (both sides), new exhaust system, and Canton billet spin on oil filter --- for anyone who has replaced the factory oil filter, you will love this upgrade.  It also received a new MAF/throttle body, new Porsche radiator, new/upgraded motor mounts, upgraded alternator, new power steering pump, refreshed fuel injectors (all 126cc flow test documented), highly sought and rare Rennbay headlight and engine wiring harness upgrade, new OEM KKK wastegate and K26/8 turbo bearings (wow), Lindsey Racing  boost enhancer and 3-bar fuel pressure regulator, very rare dashboard gauge lighting upgrade with aluminum trim rings, AND will come with other highly desirable options including a rare and Genuine Saratoga sunroof in excellent condition, a genuine Porsche inflation pump and tool kit, EXTREMELY RARE and complete set of original Porsche factory 944/Turbo Workshop manuals, extensive maintenance records and receipts, primary and spare keys w/leather Porsche FOB, plus other items I collected over 15+ years.  The successful buyer will also receive a SECOND set of worn but good condition original factory P951 1989 magnesium Turbo Cup (not Club Sport) wheels for no additional cost if desired. I will also throw in a box of Porsche 951-specific period magazines and articles for historical reference and authenticity.  I have retained dozens of digital pictures over the past 16 years, and available to the winning buyer to attest to all the work described in this auction.

The vehicle is being sold AS IS with NO WARRANTY.  Texas registration and insurance are current. Please provide cash/PayPal/cashier check/money order for payment with delivery in the Central/South Texas area, or pick-up by your transport purveyor of choice. You are welcome to request a PPI (pre-purchase inspection) at your cost and choice of service shop in the San Antonio (not Austin) area. If you are seriously considering a P951 for some daily or PCA club-level driving starting on DAY 1, you are a discerning buyer who should enter a serious and/or winning proposal for a car with the best level of care, preparation, quality, and provenance – this is a genuine 1989 "last USA 944 Turbo S" -- less than 140 registered cars in this model year are known to exist today.  As Porsche stated in an ad before this year's 2021 LeMans race "Nobody's Perfect", but you can get pretty close to driving perfection for a fraction of the cost.  Thank You for your interest and bid!
