1959 Morgan 4/4 Series 2 Roadster Vehicle Information VIN: XXA 511 Stock: 201201 Mileage: 37,799 Color: Black Trans: Four-speed manual Engine: 1.2 L Ford 100 E four-cyl Title: Clear Interior: Red/Black Description 1959 Morgan 4/4 Series 2 Roadster • One of 386 examples made between 1955 and 1960 • Original North American market left hand drive Morgan • Fully documented rotisserie restoration completed in 2016 • Restoration photos are included • Chassis certification from Morgan Motors • 1.2 L Ford 100 E flathead four-cylinder engine #154763 • Four-speed manual transmission • Black exterior with gray, vented steel wheels with chrome center caps and red and black interior • Leather top and tonneau cover There are other British roadsters out there besides an MG. Motoe Xotica Classic Cars is proud to present this 1959 Morgan 4/4 Series 2 Roadster. This particular example was made on August 19, 1959 in Worcestershire, England then sent to Windsor Motorcycles in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. We originally purchased this Morgan in 2018 from the gentleman who restored the car. We then immediately sold the Morgan to a prominent collector in California. Unfortunately, he passed away shortly after receiving the car and we have recently purchased the roadster back from his estate. During his ownership he only added about 40 miles to the car and it was always stored away inside. It left the factory with the following equipment – USA certification, heater, tonneau cover, less badge bar and passenger lamp. The roadster's black paint and trim are in excellent condition. The windscreen is in very good order while the car's lights, bodywork are all in excellent order. There are even rock guards protecting the headlights. This car rolls on Michelin radials, size 155 R 400, at all four corners. Each radial surrounds a gray, vented steel wheels with chrome center caps. The engine bay is extremely tidy, the car's bumpers fit tightly to the body and the rear spare tire and wheel matches the other four. Under the vee-shaped hood is a 1.2 L flathead four-cylinder engine #154763 supplied by Ford backed by a four-speed manual transmission. Inside, the car's red leather bucket seats are in great shape, while the contrasting black carpet also looks vibrant. The four-spoke, banjo-style steering wheel is in excellent order. The inner door panels topped with red trim look great and the instrument panel, with its warm stretch of burled wood and complete set of gauges, looks fantastic. This vehicle is a radio delete model. The Series II, now the 4/4 rather than the 4-4, was introduced in 1955 with 386 built by October 1960. Although very similar in appearance to the old 4-4 it was virtually a new car with a chassis based on the one used in the Morgan Plus 4. The traditional independent front suspension using sliding pillars and coil springs was fitted with a rigid axle and semi-elliptic leaf springs at the rear. Disc wheels were fitted as standard items. Hydraulic brakes with nine-inch drums were fitted. ‘Competition' form with Aquaplane head conversion, twin S.U. carburetors and an improved gearshift linkage. Inside there was a bench seat back and individual squabs covered in PVC, with leather as an option and rubber floor covering. A heater was available as an option as was a rev counter and more surprisingly, direction indicators. In 1956, The Motor Magazine tested a Series II and recorded a top speed of 75.3 mph acceleration from 0-60 mph in 26.9 seconds and a fuel consumption of 29.2 mpg. Competition to this Morgan in 1959 included Aiken's D 2, Berkeley's B 95 Twosome, Ford's Consul Mk. II Convertible, Hillman's Minx Convertible Coupe and Moretti's 750 Spyder. This car is currently located at our facility in St. Louis, Missouri. Current mileage on the odometer shows 37,799 miles. It is sold as is, where is, on a clean and clear, mileage exempt California title. GET OUT AND DRIVE!!! VIN: A 511
