Austin Healey Frogeye Sprite - 1959 and therefore both MOT and Tax exempt.
This is for sale only because I have moved house and my plans to build a garage to restore the car is being delayed by a planning process which will not now be complete until the spring. I cannot realistically leave the car out all winter and therefore I have decided that sadly it needs to go.
The car does need restoring however I have been driving it around over the past few months - the engine and gearbox are really sweet and I have replaced the front discs so it stops well.
Some restoration has been started (not by myself) new sill on drivers side and a new floor pan on the passenger side - not to my standard and I was planning to replace both sides and suspension mounts. The body needs work as well - the paint is ok but the usual fibreglass front has been fitted and has some cracks which will need addressing and the boot has a large indentation which looks like someone has sat on it - it is covered to some extent by the roundel.
As stated the engine is sweet runs 40 - 50 lbs oil pressure when hot and idles at 20+lbs - water temperature is spot on.
The hood is waterproof and not in bad condition - side screens are good and a full waterproof Tonneau cover - Speedo does not work but I have fitted a new cable just needs a drive in the gearbox. All electrics work including the heater blower.
Underneath does need sorting but all panels are available.
It has 4 virtually brand new tyres Toyo's and as stated new front discs.
Although I have been driving it around I would recommend a trailer to pick up the car.
So there it is - not many Frogeyes left and this is an early one - no MOT required and Tax Free (tax is until October 2014) NO RESERVE AUCTION - my Loss your gain!!!
