New South African MK1 Citi Golf Limited Edition. 1.6i RHD with modern interior. This car has only done 10K miles since new. OWN A VERY RARE PIECE OF MOTORING HISTORY AND AN ICON.This is one of the last 1000 Limited Edition MK1 GOLF cars made to celebrate the end of production of the MK1 Citi Golf in South Africa. It is number 459 out of 1000. South Africa continued production of the MK1 Golf until 2009 and then in 2009 produced this limited edition model with additional high spec to celebrate the end of production. (Drivers Airbag, part leather, central locking, deleting the quarter window etc). They also took the last car (No.001) and toured South Africa with it and produced a goodbye Citi Golf TV Commercial, having it signed by people all over the country before it went into the SA VW museum and production ceased.Number 001 is in the Uitenhage VW Museum in South Africa and No.002 is in the VW Autostadt Museum in Wolfsburg Germany in the MK1 Golf display showing the last Golf's produced worldwide.  It has only done 16,000Km's (10K miles) since it left the factory floor in 2009. It was purchased new from a dealer in South Africa and imported in early 2010 from South Africa to the UK where it was then stored for 9 years and regularly maintained, driven locally and regularly serviced and then finally registered on the road in 2019. It has had two MOT's and now it's 3rd MOT on 22 Sept and it has passed with no issues. It was also just fully serviced on the 22nd Sept 2021. So it comes with a full MOT and Service. It comes with all import documents, VW heritage birth certificate, V5, Service info, Log books etc. It also comes with a rare 2009 Art book called 'Citi Golf - 25 Years' which features the car and it's history as well as a whole chapter on this actual limited edition car.It was rust treated underneath earlier this year with Lanoguard to protect it.It feels like a new car, it drives like a new car and smells like a new car, everything is original including the tyres which are in great shape. It drives like a Go-Kart and turns everyone's heads, people stop and stare with a real look of confusion trying to work out why it is so different. It cost 11K Euro's new in South Africa at the dealer in in 2009. The stereo has been changed to a bluetooth one but the original stereo comes with it. It also comes with brand new Limited Edition MK1 carpets with the logos on them that were never unwrapped. The clutch and gear change literally feels like new. All manufacturer stickers are still on everything, dated 2009. This car would drive anywhere. It does have some surface rust on the stock exhaust box from a decade of being stored in the UK so at some point would benefit from something like a Powerflow exhaust system in the future (A South African company in the UK who do great exhausts suited for these cars) but there are other options. If you are confused by the modern dashboard, VW South Africa used the Skoda Fabia dash to modernise the MK1 Citi Golf around 2007. I really do not want to sell this car and I am still fighting not to have to as I am fully aware I will regret it. Reason for sale is a change of circumstances and of storage in the near future. This car is ideally suited to a car collector or someone who will look after it and pamper and maintain it for what it is rather than modify it too much or take away from it's history. Also If you think to yourself, 'I will just import one myself', you will never find another like this one. All that are left over there have around 200K on the clock as these cars are heavily used in SA and one of the most loved, not to mention one of these limited edition last produced MK1's. This is a once in a lifetime car. You cannot buy a new Citi Golf anymore, let alone one like this and one of the last and one now this rare in the UK.If you would like to know more about this car, please ask me any questions you may have or alternatively you can search up 'Citi Golf MK1 Limited Edition' to find out more. There is also a fantastic 10 min documentary called 'The South African Citi Golf / PATINA' by Patina which features this actual car at the end and also a great recent documentary called 'Classic Documentary: Volkswagen Citi Golf' by Galimoto Media. Both are available in a main video app.You will not be disappointed when viewing. Vehicle is located in East Grinstead, West Sussex. No Tyre Kickers or Time Wasters Please.
