HI I AM SELLING MY 1958 STUDEBAKER SILVER HAWK. THE LAST OF THE AMERICAN REAR FIN CARS. THIS CAR IS STUNNING. IT STILL RETAINS ITS ORIGINAL SWEEPSTAKES 289 V-8 ENGINE. THIS CAR WAS BUILT WITH THE OPTIONAL FOUR BARREL CARBURETOR AND IT IS THE 225 HORSEPOWER VERSION. AS UNUSUAL AS IT IS, THE CAR ALSO RETAINS ITS ORIGINAL CARBURETOR. THE CAR CAN SIT FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME AND IT ALWAYS STARTS ON THE FIRST OR SECOND TRY. THE ENGINE RUNS REALLY STRONG AND THERE ARE NO NOISES, SMOKE OR LEAKS. THE ENGINE WAS REBUILT ABOUT A YEAR AGO AT MURPHYS AUTO RESTORATIONS IN SOUTH NEW JERSEY. IT ALSO RETAINS ITS ORIGINAL FLIGHTOMATIC AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. I BELIEVE THIS CAR HAD AN OVERDRIVE OPTION IN 1958 BUT THIS CAR DOES NOT HAVE THAT OPTION. THE TRANSMISSSION HOWEVER SHIFTS SMOOTH WITHOUT ANY ISSUES. THERE IS NOT ANY BANGING INTO GEAR IN FORWARD OR REVERSE. THIS CAR WAS ALSO FITTED WITH THE FACTORY TWIN TRACTIOIN REAR AND IT STILL RETAINS THAT. SINCE MY OWNERSHIP,  I HAVE ALSO INSTALLED A NEW BATTERY AND I HAD THE RADIATOR RECORED AS IT HAD A VERY SMALL LEAK THAT I WAS AFRAID WOULD GET WORSE. THE BRAKES FEEL GOOD AS THERE IS PLENTY OF MEAT ON THE SHOES. THE ONLY MECHANICAL ISSUE IT HAS IS THE REAR RIGHT WHHEL CYLINDER IS STARTING TO STICK AND WHEN ITS COLD IT DRAGS A BIT. AFTER A WHILE IT DOES LOOSEN UP. IF I HAVE SOME TIME I WILL ADDRESS IT BUT RIGHT NOW I AM VERY BUSY. THE EXTERIOR OF THE CAR IS STUNNING TO SAY THE LEAST. THE CAR WAS PAINTED APPROXIMATLY 3 YEARS AGO AND ITS EXCELLENT. THE PAINT IS THICK AND HAS A TON OF CLEAR ON IT. THERE IS NO RUST OR BUBBLES SHOWING AND ALTHOUGH I WOULD NOT CALL IT SHOW QUALITY I WOULD CALL IT SLIGHTLY BELOW. EVEN THE ROCKERS AND REAR LOWER FENDERS DO NOT SHOW ANY SIGNS OF RUST. THE IS LITTLE TO NO OVERSPRAY ON THE CAR AS I BELIEVE IT WAS DISMANTLED AT THAT TIME. WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR I FELT THE CHROME AND STAINLESS WERE A BIT SHABY. SO IN THE LAST 3 MONTHS I DID THE FOLLOWING: 1. FRONT BUMPER RECHROMED TO SHOW QUALITY 2. FRONT BUMPERETTES RECHROMED TO SHOW QUALITY 3. FRONT LOWER GRILL SURROUNDS (BOTH SIDES) RECHROMED TO SHOW QUALITY 4. BOTH TURN SIGNALS BOTH FENDERS RECHROMED TO SHOW QUALITY. THAT INCLUDED THE        REAR AIR PLANE LOOKING PIECES ON THE BACK OF THEM THAT MOST DONT HAVE. 5. NEW TURN SIGNAL LENSES AND BULBS 6. NOS HEADLITE BEZELS 7. NOS CENTER HOOD CHROME INSERT 8. NOS FRONT GRILL BADGE 9. REAR BUMPER RECHROMED TO SHOW QUALITY10.REAR TAIL FIN CAP (ON TOP OF THE TAIL LITES ) RECHROMED TO SHOW QUALITY11.NOS REAR TAIL LITE LENSES12.NEW TRUNK BADGES13.ALL OF THE SIDE STAINLESS WAS REMOVED AND SMALL NICKS WERE TAPPED OUT AND THEN         SPEED POLISHED. THEY LOOK GREAT.14.THE ONLY ITEMS NOT DONE, WERE THE SIDE STUDEBAKER EMBLEMS,THE DOOR HANDLES AND THE FRONT GRILL SURROUND AS I THOUGHT THEY WERE EXCELLENT ANYWAY.15.NOS HUB CAPS THAT ARE AS BRAND NEW. THE CHROME IS EXCELLENT AND THERE ARE NO DINGS IN THEM AT ALL.16. I INSTALLED NOS BROADWAY GRAND PRIX WIDE WHITES. THE ARE 95% AND SHOW NO SIGNS OF DRY ROT.THE BODY LINES ARE EXCELLENT. REMEMBER THIS IS A 1958 AND EVEN BACK THEN THE BODY LINES WERE NOT LIKE THE CARS OF TODAY. I HAVE COUNTED 9 SMALL CHIPS IN THE CAR AND THEY HAVE BEEN TOUCHED UP. MOST OF WHICH YOU REALLY HAVE TO LOOK FOR TO FIND. THERE IS ONE SMALL DENT IN THE BOTTOM OF THE REAR TRUNK LID AS SHOWN IS THE PICTURE. ITS ABOUT THE SIZE OF A HALF DOLLAR.  THE INTERIOR IS COMPLETE, BUT NOT COMPLETLEY REDONE. THE SEATS HAVE BEEN REDONE AND ARE VERY PRESENTABLE. THE CARPETS HAVE ALSO BEEN REDONE AND LOOK GREAT. THE HEADLINER HAS ALSO BEEN REDONE  AND LOOKS GREAT AS WELL. THE DASH IS COMPLETE AND THERE ARE NO SPLITS IN IT. THE DOOR PANELS HAVE NOT BEEN REDONE AND DO LOOK A BIT SHABBY. THE NEW OWNER SHOULD RE-DO THEM.  ALL THE GAGES WORK AND THAT INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:  1. SPEEDOMETER 2. ODOMETER 3. WATER TEMPITURE 4. AMPS 5. OIL PRESSURE 6. FUEL GAGETHIS CAR IS TACHOMETER DELETE AND I BELIEVE THAT WAS A FACTORY OPTION. THE STEERING WHEEL IS ORIGINAL AND WHAT I BELIEVE TO BE GOOD SHAPE. THE HORN ACTUALLY WORKS AS WELL. THE WIPERS WORK AND SO DOES THE HEAT AND DEFROSTERS. ALL THE LITES WORK INCLUDING THE FENDER TURN SIGNALS. THE INSTRUMENT LITES WORK AS WELL. THE GLASS IS ORIGINAL AND IS IN VERY GOOD SHAPE WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE DRIVER WINDOW WHICH DOED HAVE A CRACK IN IT. THIS CAR IS VERY SOLID AND VERY WELL CARED FOR. THE FLOORS DO NOT HAVE ANY HOLES IN THEM. THE ROCKERS ARE GREAT THERE IS ALSO NO SIGNS OF RUST EITHER. WHILE I ASSUME THERE WAS SOME BONDO USED IT IS NOT VISABLE AT ALL. THE UNDERSIDE IS THE SAME. ITS VERY SOLID WITH THE EXCEPTION OF SOME SURFACE RUST THE UNDERSIDE IS EXCELLENT. PLEASE BID TO WIN.
