1971 Triumph GT6 Mk3 for sale
Current customer rating: (45 votes ) based onA reluctant sale due to simply not having the time to enjoy this beautiful car, and not being willing to let it sit in the garage any longer.
I've owned this car since late 2006, when I trailered it up from Aldershot to the Midlands as a complete basket case.
Over the following 7 years, it underwent a complete, body-off, nut and bolt restoration, covering:
Bodywork:
Extensive panel replacements, chemical dip and electrophoretic coating, new bonnet, full body-off respray.
Interior:
New headlining, carpets, walnut dash, instrument refurb, seats rebuit & reupholstered.
Mechanicals:
Engine rebuilt with fast road cam, duplex vernier timing gear, new pistons & rings, refurbished rocker assembly, new oil pump, HS6 carbs, K&N filters, gearbox (non-overdrive) rebuilt (broken teeth 2nd gear), new clutch assembly, propshaft balanced, front & rear suspension refurbished, uprated dampers front & rear, uprated front springs, rear spring lowering block fitted, poly-bushed all round. New brake discs, calipers, pads (front), new shoes/springs/handbrake assembly (rear). Aluminium engine & radiator shrouds & electric fan fitted.
Electrical:
Wiring loom checked and refurbished, based heavily on existing wiring diagram but adding some additional fused circuits and space for future additions.
It's covered less than 1000 miles since putting it back on the road in 2013. I have records of everything that's been done to the car, and additionally a huge history file dating back to 1974 (and some contact made with previous owners who have promised to supply more information)
Current valuation for insurance is £16,800, but there are a couple of point on the bodywork that need attention – not rust (see above re. electrophoretic coating), but a couple of dings in the bonnet where the alternator mounting arm was replaced the wrong way up during replacement – pics to be added shortly.
To be clear, I won't accept any bids unless you've been to view the car – to avoid wasting your time and mine. I am fairly flexible, and am located about 5 mins from the A38 between Tamworth and Lichfield.
