Interior & Equipment

Fully refurbished in 2000, soft and supple emerald green leather with a ruffled design along with matching leather door cards which are immaculate. The wooden dash complimented by the bakelite banjo steering wheel all unmarked. The original Morgan clocks, Smiths Heater all gauges and electrical switches work perfectly as they were intended... Simply beautiful.

Exterior

Finished in the original supplied Brunswick Green paintwork. The all steel complete body and chassis have been bare metal stripped, sanded/painted to perfection giving a uniformed deep gloss shine and completed in 2000 with a photographic record of the car before, during and after restoration. It's clear to see from the pictures that it's still stunning today which is testament to the outstanding quality of workmanship carried out 21 years ago. The door closures and panel fit excellent throughout.

All body fittings, trims, lights, bumpers, door handles etc. were all refurbished or replaced using genuine parts where possible. The vinyl hood, full and half tonneau covers, side screens and frame are all new.

The underside of the car is equally as impressive, works included stripped and painted chassis, suspension, propshaft, diff, leaf springs, new floors etc. the list goes on and on nothing missed.

The attention to detail and condition 20 years on... Stunning

The 6 original steel pressed vented wheels have been fully refurbished, the chrome hubcaps are in fantastic order.  Sitting on all matching excellent Avon Tourist 5.25-16 Crossply Tyres.  The drum brake system has been completely overhauled with all new or refurbished components, she pulls up with ease and perfectly straight. 

Engine & Transmission

Fitted with the original Standard Vanguard 2088cc 4 cylinder ohv engine converted to unleaded fuel and mated to the Moss gearbox producing 68 BHP.  Weighing in at just 762kg makes this Morgan a sprightly machine easily keeping up with modern day traffic and such fun to drive.  The original specification Lucas Dynamo and Solex Carburettor have been retained.  The engine was fully rebuilt September 2008 by Mike Duncan Morgan Agents and has coved a mere 1514 miles since. On the road driving is a joy, she starts easily hot or cold, gear selection slick and smooth you instantly feel your driving something special.

Summary

Dispatched from the Morgan factory 28th August 1954 and registered new in Chesterfield 7th December 1954 and still retaining its original Birmingham issued and catchy registration number plus the original buff log book and subsequent log books up to the present day.

A very well known 'Flat Rad' that has been subject to many magazine articles and proudly displayed at many shows and on the Morgan stand at the 2002 NEC Sportscar Show.

The history file is packed with invoices, receipts, past MOT certificates one as early as 1964, past expired tax discs, show memorabilia, magazine articles etc. etc.

A full photographic nut and bolt bare bones restoration was completed in 2000 to the highest standards and the car presents today as it did when completed. The history file  documents the love and passion behind this outstanding 'Flat Rad'. 

This low ownership Morgan has been in the hands of the last lifelong MOG Club owner for almost 20 years.

This is an excellent opportunity to own a very rare, collectable and extremely sought after Morgan Flat Rad. Show standard, extensively restored, exceptional history and provenance. Being registered late 1954 its believed to be the last one ever built, certainly one not to be missed.

The Morgan 4-4 ‘Flat Rad' (flat radiator, later cars feature a cowled radiator) was built from 1936 until 1950. In total 1428 specimen were built, of which 600 were 2-seater sports models. The 4-4 was the first Morgan featuring four wheels and a four-cylinder engine, hence the model name 4-4.
