Offered is a solid and mostly original 1948 Ford Convertible.

It is a running driving car that has been garaged and not driven very much for the last 15 or more years.

Today t he odometer today reads 69194.

I got it from California six years ago.

The previous title that showed it having 69016 miles in 2006.

The original color was black.

The red paint, top, tires, and upholstery look good from a distance. Up close they are showing their age.

There is also fiberglass low in the quarter panels and cowl dog legs.

I have

pictures of the inside of the quarters panels showing the extent of that body work. Ask and I will send them to you.

The floors are solid and original with one 6” x 14” patch found near the spare tire. The frame and undercarriage were undercoated lightly somewhere along the line.

My intention was not to restore the car, but just do some cosmetic cleanup and normal mechanical maintenance. Then enjoy it for what it is:

a good old car that rolled off the assembly line 73 years ago.

To reach that goal, it will still need some minor clean up and repair. Among them I wanted to

install turn signals and new lighting wiring but didn't get to it.

I've only driven it country roads within a few miles of home.

The car has extended spring shackles. They lower the car about 2 inches but reduce the suspension travel. On country roads the ride and handling would definitely benefit from replacing them with stock shackles and installing new tires. Uninstalled NOS front and rear

shackles are included with the sale.

Much of the car is just as I bought it.

The engine runs well and, number wise, is original to the car.

I recently replaced the fuel pump diaphragm, spark plugs, coil &

coil

wire, distributor cap, reset the timing, and changed the oil and filter.

The wiper arms and blades are also new. The wiper motor was disassembled, cleaned and lubed and works very well.

The radiator looks very nice, with no visible repairs and it runs cool while driving and idling.

I mended tears in

both sail panels of

the convertible top soon after I got the car. The lift cylinders and pump are missing. I haven't tried personally, but the previous owner said the top can easily be raised and lowered manually.

The under hood and dash wiring are mostly original and secure. The chassis wiring (rear lights & gas gauge) have several repairs and should be replaced. The amp and oil pressure work. The parking, low beams, tail, and brake lights work.

The spot light, fog lamps, and radio may, but are not hooked up.

The gas gauge and horn are connected but don't work. New or repaired chassis wiring is probably the answer. The speedometer does work. Judging from the low wear on the old tires and the general condition of the car, it's is possible the

odometer

reading could be correct.

The brakes have a good pedal but need looked at or adjusted. At higher speeds they pull to the left. The emergency brake looks complete but is disconnected from the rear wheels. The vent windows open and close manually but the regulators need rebuilding.

There are 2 short (less than 2") cracks in the glass.

There are sure to be things I have missed. For what I wanted there are small

mechanical

and cosmetic repairs that I had intended to do but

didn't

get to. Your opinions may be different.

Looking

at the car in person or thru an appraiser before bidding is recommended. The convertible is being sold "as is". The payment terms and method shown are the only options unless

discussed

before bidding. If you have less than 10 feedbacks contact me before bidding or you bids will be cancelled.

If you are the winning bidder and don't pay you can expect bad feedback.

If you have questions or need additional pictures just ask and I will do my best.

Thank you for your interest.

Payment terms A $200 down payment is required within 24 hours of the auction end.

The remaining balance must be paid by wire transfer from a U.S.A. bank to my bank within 5 business days.

On Sep-16-21 at 05:38:03 PDT, seller added the following information:

Sept. 16, 2021 The previous title showed a $22 K loan release on the convertible. I paid slightly less than that not knowing that fiberglass repairs had been done to the inner and outer rocker panels and quarters. My reserve has been lowered below what I paid due to these old repairs.
