Vehicle is being relisted due to non-paying bidder. Please bid to own! 1978 Pontiac Trans Am in overall nice condition but needs some finishing touches. I've owned this car for about seven years and mainly only took it to local car shows and occasionally for a pleasure ride. It originated as a black exterior and black cloth interior car but I've transformed it to look like a Special-Edition by adding Year One 17x9 gold snowflake aluminum wheels, gold Formula steering wheel, gold steering wheel horn button emblem, the gold gearshift surround, gold dash swirl bezel, gold center cap emblems, painted gold headlight surrounds, gold interior door emblems, gold shifter emblem, gold nose emblem, and gold bird and pinstriping. I reupholstered all seats in PUI Lombardi cloth. The Hurst t-tops present well. The dash is nice, but the radio opening was cut and there is currently no radio. There is a working CB radio installed under the dash in passenger's side. CB antennae is magnetic and can be removed. Windshield is tinted gold at the top. It does have a couple stone chips. It has a 400 engine that starts right up. Car originally came with these options: power windows, tinted glass, air conditioning, cruise control, 15x8 snowflakes, Lombardi cloth interior, chrome window and hood trim moldings, etc. Car came to PA from TX in 1994, so it has little rust. The only major spot of rust, which has been repaired, was a patch under the driver's seat floor. The patch wasn't as thick as the original metal (floor pan wasn't available when it was done), which results in a “tinny” feel on the floor when you get in. Paint presents well, but as shown in pics, there are some bubbles on top of driver's side rear quarter (as a result of poor prep before painting, not rust bubbles). The paint is cracking in the door handle area on drivers side. There is a spot (smaller than a dime) on the hood, and a straight-line paint crack on top of rear bumper. Even with these flaws, this car still won the Carlisle GM show elite award in 2019. Car presents well and gets lots of attention. There are issues with this car that I intended to fix but haven't gotten around to them - and I've bought another interest car in the meantime. The last owner took a lot of the options off the car, and I was working to put them back on. I have parts which will be included with sale to repair most issues. Here's what I intended to fix: AC was disconnected at cowl and needs reassembled (I have most of system, if not all); it currently has crank windows which are stripped (handles are not currently on the car and I use vice grips to close them when needed) - I have power window system; door glass needs aligned as windows do not completely close; passenger door is stuck shut as the door latch failed - door panel needs to be removed and new latch assembly installed (I have the assembly); the driver's door mirror glass is missing - it is currently not remote controlled, but should be. I have a freshly-painted black remote mirror that can be attached, but it would need gold striping; I have a pair of new interior door panels from PUI that need installed to fix power window and power mirror issues; cruise control needs reinstalled (without it, the speedometer does not work) - I have the cruise control system; fuel gauge does not work - I believe it's the sending unit but I'm not positive; drivers side door lock came out of the door and needs hooked back up to the rod; on the way back from a show, the rear bushing fell out of the back shock and it's now a little sloppy. I wouldn't recommend driving the car long distance the way it is. I'm including four brand new shocks from UMI Performance. Odometer has not moved since I've owned the car, but the title reads mileage exempt. This car can be something spectacular if the issues mentioned are fixed ... and you'll get most parts to fix them. It's still been a fun car to drive.
