Here we have my lovely 1971 (50 years old!) very original USA Federal spec Triumph Stag survivor that has undergone a comprehensive mechanical refurbishment. The car is (unusually for US models) manual gear box with perfectly working overdrive.  The car has covered only 101 thousand miles (162,000 kms) and drives beautifully.  Overall I would describe the condition of the car as excellent original condition.

Being a historic tax category, this car requires no UK MOT or road tax and as such could be insured from the UK and kept at your holiday home throughout Europe. You would require a legitimate UK address to do this.

I bought the car from a Dentist in the USA (dry state car) and imported it to the UK, then to France. It has UK registration certificate and the important FFVE certificate that allow easy registration in France. You just need a controle technique (MOT) and then apply for the French Logbook. I can assist with this. The last UK MOT it passed was 2018 and it has been dry stored since and driven about 100 miles. I can take it for a controle technique for the buyer as necessary.

When the car arrived in the UK it was sent to a highly recommended Lotus specialist in Devon for a comprehensive mechanical overhaul.

All suspension was removed, media blasted and repainted factory satin black, all suspension bushes were replaced. Four new shock absorbers were fitted with all braking parks replaced with new or refurbished parts. The brake master cylinder was also changed.

The engine and gearbox were then removed to detail the engine bay. A new clutch was fitted.  Any oil leaks on the engine and gearbox were sorted and the engine was given a full service and carb setup/balance. Also fitted were new coil, condenser, distribution cap, plug leads, spark plugs and voltage resistor. The engine had previously been fitted with a high performance aluminium radiator and was subsequently fitted with a new viscous fan coupling and fan blade.  Also fitted for peace of mind was a STAGWEBER aluminium header tank with audible low fluid alarm. The fresh air inlet tube was also renewed. A battery security cut off was fitted to the battery.

The bodywork in excellent ‘dry state' condition. The Lotus garage said it looked virtually factory fresh. a thin layer of clear wax was applied to the underside and the suspension components to protect their condition.

The paint work has excellent patina, there are some minor imperfections, appropriate to the age and originality of the the car. The original pinstripes can still be seen. The car has been thoroughly polished and detailed.

The chrome wire wheels are as new, the tyres are recently fitted.  The hood is in great condition and the original supplier?s decal (in the US) sticker is still present on the rear screen, which is a nice touch. There is a period luggage rack fitted to the boot. The boot interior is in grat condition.

In the interior, new front seat covers were fitted professionally and match perfectly. The back seats are excellent.  The wood veneer dash is all excellent.  Overall the interior is a really nice place to sit and looks really smart. Every gauge and switch works perfectly as do all interior lights. There are front and rear seat belts fitted. The carpets are very good and brand new original spec left hand drive front carpets (with insulation) have been fitted from Aldridge trimming. A new overdrive switch and correct knob cover was recently fitted.

All exterior chrome is excellent and the car also benefits from £1000 worth of new stainless steel bumpers, so no corrosion, ever. No expense has been spared. The front USA indicators (large orange only lamp) were changed to UK specification indicator/sidelights and the wiring for this was appropriately modified. All four headlights were replaced and are left hand drive specification.

A Double SS stainless steel full exhaust was fitted that provides a lovely V8 burble.

All receipts are available for the works and parts as are the MOT, UK Log book and history File including UK heritage certificate and the French FFVE certificate.

There will probably be other things that I have forgotten, that I will add later, but if it needed it, it has been done!
