My buyer pulled out, so I'm relisting my 1972 LT-1 Convertible. The car is no longer on any other site or craigslist. and it is no,longer in public view. This time around, The car will only be sold through Ebay.Bought this as a project a few years back, but I have too many toys and need to thin out a few. Bought this in the D.C. area , from the original owner. Car was Raced around the area pretty regularly, untill around 1979, when it was put away in the back of an old garage and left. Afew years ago, the owner decided to start a restoration, but health issues got in the way, and I bought the car. The interior was 90 percent disassembled and the top end of the engine was apart. I did a complete and thorough cleaning of the interior and reassembled it with as much of the original parts as possible. The steering column was rebuilt, a new heater core added, and an aftermarket Retro Look stereo and 4 quality speakers,2 in the dash and two in the kick panels. All the guages work. I put in new carpet ,new seat foam and seat covers. Door panels are pretty decent but not perfect. I'd say the interior is about 80-90 percent. I also have a new set of quality floor mats that are still in the wrapper. The fuel tank and sending unit were replaced with new (No build sheet on the tank:( )and lines were flushed. Changed the fluid in the transmission and rear end, added all new brakes including soft lines, pads and rotors, calipers and e brake. New shocks all around, and a complete overhaul of the front suspension, including all bushings, balljoints, inner and outer tie rod ends and an idler arm and swaybar end links and bushings. The car was just given a full four wheel alignment. The engine NOT ORIGINAL was pulled and disassembled, and rebuilt to give the feel of the great muscle car the LT-1 was. The steel crank, high performance rods, and forged alluminum pistons, and high performance balancer appear to be the original LT-1 pieces. The block is standard bore, and I used total seal gapless rings in the rebuild,as well as ARP hardware. The crank is standard on both the rods and mains. High volume oil pump, windage tray, and a correct corvette oil pan. The heads were not original, so I installed a new set of Patriot aluminum Angle plug closed chamber heads. The cam is a Comp Cams solid lifter cam with close to the original specs. The original distributor was rebuilt and a Petronics ignitor ellectronic conversion added. The original intake manifold is in place, and a new Holley 750 double pumper is under the original aircleaner. and the original valve covers hide the hardened pushrods and roller rockers. A trw double true roller chain set, and new aluminum waterpump, starter and new clutch too. A Lakewood scatter shield is in place, but the original bellhousing is included. The shifter is a Hurst with a retro orange shift ball, and the original shifter is also included. The alternator has the correct large pulley. The new radiator is an aftermarket alluminum as well. The 2 1/2" exhaust is all new with a set of ceramic coated headers and Walker dynomax mufflers with Pypes custom tips. The engine sounds great and runs strong. The frame is solid and has no obvious evidense of rust or damage. The entire headlight vacuum system was rebuilt with all new lines and fittings. The black top is in pretty decent shape for it's age, but not perfect. No holes or tears, and the back window is still pretty clear, but it is almost 50 years old. I installed all new top seals, but the door seals are old and beat. I planned on doing those when I got to the paint. The body and paint are old and tired. Lots of big chips, and less than stellar body work are evident (feather edging of chips was common back then). There is evidence of minor body work on the front and back. Nothing serious, and no frame damage. Original color was 987 Ontario Orange. I cleaned up the Centerline Champ 500 wheels, added new spinners and lug nuts, and a new set of tires. The car is fun to drive , looks good at 50 feet and gets lots of attension with the old school paint. My plan was to drive and enjoy it for a few years before doing a full repaint. I've tried to be clear on the condition , but please feel free to ask questions.I'm a classic car fan, not a car dealer! The passenger door glass is slightly out of adjustment, but I will try to get that taken care of this week. The car is NOTfor sale locally, so the auction will NOT end early . Please don't bid if you don't intend to follow through. Posting an ad takes time and money, so please be respectful. Shipping is the buyers responsibility, and a 500.00 deposit is required within 24 hours through paypal.. NO EXCEPTIONS! Thanks for looking and have a great day. My apologies to those who bid before.
