Here is a chance to grab a Bond Bug, albeit not quite a standard one, at a fraction of the cost of a standard version which are now selling for big money.  The eagle eyed amongst you will have seen this listed only a couple of weeks ago.  There is nothing sinister about this, unfortunately personal problems means my dream of owning a bug was short lived and has to come to an abrupt end.  :-(So some info about the bug.  Its not standard and has had some extensive work.  It has had the rear subframe of a Fiat 126 bolted onto the original chassis and a Fiat Abarth 650 cc air cooled engine and gearbox slung out the back.  This of course isn't to everybodies taste but persoanlly i like it.  The original hinged canopy is has also been sealed closed and smoothed off.  I bought this on ebay several weeks ago and got to work on fixing her up.  The bulk of the work I have done so far has been focused around the engine.  I have removed the cooling tins from the engine and stripped what i can only describe as front door paint off them and repainted with engine paint. I have then replaced the fan drive key and reassembled.  I have replace the oil and serviced the filter. I have replaced the sump with an cast aluminium version.  I have repaired the exhausts and replaced gaskets.  I have cleaned and gapped the spark plugs (they didnt need replacing).  I have tidied up the wiring around the engine area. New condenser fitted.  The engine now runs well and should do for many more miles.  I have removed some of the tacky mods and stickers that were present when i bought it and have fitted the original black bong bug stripe back on.  I have replaced the steering wheel with something more suitable and also fitted a short extension to give me more space for my legs.  This is a quick release wheel to help with getting in for the taller folk amongst us.  Im over 6ft tall and can confortably fit behind the wheel now.  I have given the rest of the car the once over and its in pretty good order. Theres no chassis corrosion, brakes are good but I have bought brand new brake shoes whilst i was ordering parts for the engine.  Tyres are like new. Wheels are good but personally i was going to have them refurbed with a polished rim and black centres.  I have the relavent Fiat 126 Haynes manual for rear end maint and the electronic version of the bond bug manual for the rest of the car which will be supplied.  Good quality waterproof cover and matching orange ratchet straps will also be supplied. The bad bits...I bought the bug with a problem with 1st and 3rd gears.  It wouldnt quite select them.  It appears to be a common problem with the fiat 126 and is a linkage adjustment issue. I have briefly worked on this and adjusted it the other way so i could engege 1st and 3rd but lost 2nd and 4th. This confirmed it was adjustment required and not a gearbox or clutch problem. This was a difficult task on my own so i returned the linkage to the original.  This needs some minor adjustment with somebody in the vehicle opersating the stick and somebody underneath tweaking the linkage.  After fixing the gear selection my next planned task was to tackle the interior and specifically the dashboard.  Although everything is complete and working its been pretty shoddily done.  My intention was to replace the wooden centre console and fit new switches and gauges.  I have purchased a sheet of 3mm alu for this and also some tastfull good quality toggle switches which will be supplied with the sale.  Currently the switches are small rocker switches mounted on a non standard dashboard which i was intending to remove.  All that being said, it all works as is and isnt essential.  Finally, it doesnt have seatbelts fitted but I do have a set to fit and have identified the anchor points where steel threaded plates have been bonded into the fibreglass body.  The vehicle is tax exempt and registered as a Bond Bug 700ES historic vehicle so is also MOT exempt.  However, as its been modified an MOT will be required.  Currently its not MOT'd.  I have the V5 in my name.  Ive no doubt ive missed a few things but ive tried to be as transparent and honest as possible.  Im happy to accept viewings in Dunmow, Essex but will need some notice as I work full time.  Feel free to call me or whatsapp with any questions on 07791555858.  UK bidders only and no scammers please.  I'm well aware of most of the scams so please dont bother.  Cash or bank transfer on collection please and a trailer will be required.  I may be able to put the winning bidder in contact with somebody who could deliver at £1/mile. This is sold as seen.  I have listed this eleswhere so I reserve the right to remove from auction early.  Thanks for looking.
