For sale is my beloved VW T2 original Westfalia Campervan from 1971.

I purchased and imported the vehicle in 2015 from Flagstaff Arizona , the previous owner having owned the vehicle from 2002.

The previous owner confirmed that the vehicle has been all it's life in Arizona and the condition off the vehicle supports this. I would say 90% off the body panels are still original, the previous owner had welding done to the rear end corner and I have got the battery tray and a sill replaced and did some minor welding to the bolt holding the front seatbelt, truly amazing considering the age of the vehicle.

The previous owner has uprated the original 1600 engine to a 1915 cc conversion including the higher spec crank to take care of the additional power. Aspiration via Solex 40/44 Kadron double carburettor System. Further also an  Empi exhaust system fitted with a discreet sounding nice discreet burble, not too loud.According to the previous owner Gene Berg carried out the conversion.

All engine conversion work was  undertaken Less than 5000m ago.

The speedometer shows 56409m which due to the age off the vehicle cannot be guaranteed.

The external paint job, using the original paint code, was carried out by a professional Garage , in my view the nicest colour used on an original early bay by VW. The paint job is not of concourse and has a few minor imperfections, but definitely very nice to look at and it will turn heads for sure as well as the whole tidy appearance of the vehicle.

The heavy duty rear chrome bumper is not original but is most likely from an an American vehicle and is definitely a one off custom job. It complements the overall tone & Finnish.

When I took care of the vehicle in 2015  I smartened up the van within the Dub vibe whilst keeping it original. Arizona has a lovely climate which preserves vehicles well, but the downside is the red sand of which was evidence in thick layers all over the underside of the body, it was a mammoth task to carefully remove It with the aid of hand tools and plenty of elbow grease, the result was amazing not only it revealed the original I welded undercarriage but also the original underbody seal and factory paint. As the original underseal was hardened out due to age I removed this as well back to the blank chassis and painted the whole underside with Hamerite to preserve for future generations, when the roads are dry it will also go to the local garage and will have a full undercoat of waxoil. Not many out there so well maintained and preserved.

The Campervan is an original Westfalia Conversion “Campmobile 70” which I have restored and cleaned up to it's former glory.

The list of work carried out by myself is:

fitted new uprated eco friendly insulation in all body panels and doors, replacing the thin 70's glass fibre Cut new interior panels from 6mm hardwood faced ply to replace the old original panels which started to fade in the heatInsulated and Fitted a new upgraded marine ply floor Board primed sealed and paintedNew vinyl floor , matching the new interior vinyl Restored cabinets and fitted new Formica where appropriateApr. 75% of all cabinet edging was replaced with new as the Arizona heat after nearly 50 years caused the old plastic items to shrinkNew vinyl covers on camping upholstery and seat upholstery , yes I choose the replace the old mustard colour with an orange, if you insist you can have the old original mustard coloured items with the sale, I kept themNew electric hook up and distribution point fitted in original openingNew rubber seals all round (both front doors, sliding door, engine bay, rear boot lid , front and rear window)Restored and upholstered original front seatsNew rubber trims fitted in cabin New fold up table fitted , replica with exact old Westfalia patternRestored original electric , fitted additional insulation to terminals , all new relays fitted, any loose wires removed/ replaced where necessaryNew rear period looking fog light fitted with switch in cabinUpgraded alternator fitted (old unit comes with the sale)Upgraded starter motor (old unit comes with the sale)New main electric main hook up fitted with full conversion to UK spec meeting local regulation fitting also an additional double socket under the 5th seat as I wanted to avoid any additional cutouts in the original interiornew separate 10mm supply cable fitted from battery to the footwell terminated on a new fuse box to support additional appliances the uprated H4 light conversion (new relay bundle and conversion to RHD beams ) , separate fuse for radio, cigarette lighter (for charging) and the rear fog light, still has additional 2 spare fuses for potential other appliancesConversion to electronic ignition with Pectronix flame thrower 3 coil and electronic ignitor 3 module fittedNew Uprated high capacity Varta battery fitted Many little other things the list is far too long to get it all mentioned

In the whole process off the restoration it was imperative to me to not destroy the original character of the vehicle and preserve the 70's vibe.

I have taken a lot of time over the years to take photographs to document the restoration in detail and please contact me and I will provide a link to a share drive for you to view and appreciate the effort gone in this vehicle.

There is a whole folder with receipts & invoices regarding the restoration.

Viewing is highly recommended.

You can reach me best via txt on my mobile 07770088333.

I have also created a public folder on “google photos” on the link below, It illustrates the detailed steps undertaken during this project.
