The Mini was a made by the British Motor Corporation (BMC) and
its successors from 1959 until 2000. The original is considered a
British icon of the 1960 s and its space-saving front-wheel drive
layout that allowed 80% of the area of the car's floorpan to be
used for passengers and luggage influenced a generation of car
makers. In 1999. the Mini was voted the second most influential car
of the 20 th century behind the Ford Model T. This distinctive
two-door car was designed by Sir Alec Issigonis. and was
manufactured at the Longbridge and Cowley plants. The Mini Mk. I
had three major UK updates the Mk. II. the Clubman and the Mk.
III. Within these were a series of variations including an estate
car. a pick-up and a van. The Mini Cooper and Cooper 'S' were
sportier versions that were successful as rally cars. winning the
Monte Carlo Rally four times from 1964 through to 1967. Initially
Minis were marketed under the Austin and Morris names. as the
Austin Seven and Morris Mini Minor until Mini became a marque in
its own right in 1969.

This Mini Mayfair with automatic gearbox was first registered on
19 th February. 1987 and has covered only 11. 50 miles since.
Finished in Zircon blue. this 26 year old car is supplied with a V 5
registration document and an Mo T test certificate valid until 7 th
June. 2014 as well as the original service books. During his
ownership and being a Mini enthusiast. the vendor invested in new
brake discs. pads and callipers together with having an 'unleaded'
cylinder head fitted. He also had the gearbox reconditioned by TES
transmissions in Westbury. Wiltshire at a cost of £1. 46. This was
carried out in October 2012 and is covered by an 18 month or 18. 00
mile warranty. Unfortunately the Mini has developed a noise which
has not been fully diagnosed. but which appears to come from either
the engine or transmission. The A-series engine is a fairly basic
straightforward unit and the gearbox remains under warranty for a
further five months. The vendor. due to personal commitments. is
unable to devote any additional time in trying to resolve this
issue. What is without doubt though is the overall condition of the
car and the incredibly low mileage less than 500 miles a year
since new.
