Current customer rating:
1978 Ford Capri S
This car originally started as a 1978 Ford Capri 3. 0 S but has had a significant amount of work to get it to where it is today. The body is in good condition and was resprayed 5 years ago. All the rust was cut out and replacement panels fitted. There are a couple of small bubbles just in front of the windscreen. The X pack kit was professionally fitted by Tickover in Kent. It's had a new rear tail gate. roof and rear quarters. The doors have been de-locked. Under the bonnet I've fitted a strut brace from Caprisport (not in the pictures).
The engine is a 4. 2 L rover V 8. It's completely standard apart from the air filter. winged and baffled sump and exhausts. It has fully sequential fuel injection and electronic ignition driven by an OMEX 710 ECU. The idea was to upgrade the engine to either a Ford or Jaguar 32 v V 8 and use the same ECU. However. my situation has changed and no longer have the time to do the work. It's currently putting out around 215 bhp.
The gearbox is a Borg Warner T 5 from a Sierra Cosworth. This was recently completely refurbished and rebuilt. This is mated to the engine with a JE developments ally bell housing and hydraulic clutch.
It has a 5 link rear axle with panhard rod with Avo adjustable coilovers. Its has a limited slip differential from a 2. 8 special which was recently rebuilt.
The standard propshaft has been replaced with an uprated one piece unit.
The front brakes are Hi Spec 4 piston calipers with 285 mm grooved vented discs. The rears are still the standard drums.
The wheels are 3 piece split rims from Image Wheels. Fronts are 8 x 16 with Khumo tyres. the rears are 9 x 16 with Toyo tyres. /
Inside the rear seats have been removed due to the intrusion of the trailing arm boxes for the rear axle and so has been covered. The front seats are leather Brooklands Recaros. All the carpets have been replaced. The dash has smiths telemetrix gauges and was replaced around 3000 miles ago. It has a Kenwood head unit stereo. with door tweeters. 6 x 9 s. and mid range speakers with a sub in the boot. This is powered by 2 amplifiers.
I've owned this car for the last 8 years and have put an enormous amount of time and money into it. I've tried to turn it into what I thought the Capri should have been. Unfortunately. it's time for it to go as I have more important priorities like buying a house! Its got an MOT until May next year and taxed until the end of November. I will put another 6 months of tax on it for the buyer.
I've just had the car professionally valeted including complete paint decontamination and it looks stunning.
I will be very sad to see this car go as I've had a lot of fun in it and is close to my heart. I will never recoup the money spent on it (well over 20 k!) and have a large folder full of receipts for much of the work done on it. I ave advertised it at £6995 but I'm also open to sensible offers.
Please message me and I'll give you a call to arrange a viewing.
