1980 International Scout II Base Sport Utility 2-Door 5.6L for sale
Current customer rating: (511 votes ) based onUp for sale is my 1980 IH Scout 2. IT DOES NOT HAVE A TOP. You can buy a refurbished hard top for $500 or a canvas one for $800. Its got a 345 V8 and automatic transmission. It starts right up and runs good! It has approximately 4" of lift and drives really well for a lifted vehicle! The scout has been garage kept for the past two years. The vehicle is clean and rust free both on the body and underneath. There has been a small amount of bondo work to clean out a few problem areas(see pictures). The floor pans are solid and it is better than any I have seen. The body appears to be all original metal and it does not appear to have any replacement panels installed to the best of my knowledge. The paint and body is aged and the body does have a few small scratches and dings from being driven and dings by the front of the passenger door. Also the door opens fine and closes fine. no issues. it just has small dents.
The interior is in good shape to have some age on it. The floors are solid. The gauges work. although the previous owner had a new aftermarket Engine Gauge for the RPM. The factory voltage and fuel gauges are still hooked up and work great. Speedometer is also hooked up and works. The Scout's heat works great and the scout DOES NOT HAVE AN a/c system installed.
The scout has a CD player installed and speakers and radio work. Dash is in good shape The back seat is also in good shape for its age and it is the fold and tumble model that is highly desired.
The brakes work great. The scout HAS A small oil leak. I was able to get it to stop before but it isn't that bad really.
The transmission fluid has been drained and filled with fresh fluid. Also the front and rear differentials have been drained and filled along with the transfer case. The drivetrain is solid and everything feels great. It rides great and is solid!
The scout would make a great truck for someone that really enjoys these old vehicles! It has been a fun truck to have. but my wife says that something needs to go because she says I have too many toys. I just want someone to get it that will enjoy it as much as I have. Every time I drive it. I have people giving me the thumbs up and always stopping beside me and asking questions about it. It gets a TON of attention and people seem to love it.
