Offering my 1960 ragtop up for sale. Regretfully so. but I have to pull a card out of my deck and this makes the most sense for me. This VW is a great ride both visually and mechanically. I will try and highlight all of the "it has" items below and also lay mention to anything it needs at the bottom. Typical VW cancer is not an issue with this car - Pans and undercarriage are in very good shape. I replaced half of the passenger pan when I took the interior apart to rid the battery area of some decay (not just spot welded. I mig welded the entire run of the new panel and sealed with Seam Sealer as well). I am reasonable as far as deal making is concerned. I am NOT a used car salesman so this isn't a simple flip or pass off sale. I have had my hands literally on every square inch of this car for one thing or another. NO bug is perfect and this car should appeal to those who understand that and/or those who know the $15K-$25K bugs are good only to start and put around the neighborhood. This car is not a put-put around type of ride. it is meant to be seen rolling and surely will keep up with anything on the road. Definitely an attention grabbing ride.
I uploaded pictures that I think highlight some of the features of the bug and also some overall onlooker shots. but can send anything you need. I have about 200+ photos I took during all of the work. This was a bit hard to price since the car has some many unique items so i thought a while about what to set the reserve price at and I DEFINITELY think it is fair and very much achievable judging from what I have seen some common bugs go for on here. Willing to work with an out of state buyer but must admit I am clueless on the shipping process.
I just completed all of the work about a month ago. All work was done by me personally and details are a huge must for me. Most of the work just completed was on the interior.
Interior: Stripped interior out down to metal Primed Top coated with Raptor Liner Soundproofed each and every panel (proofing is about 1/2" - 3/4" thick) Painted to Matte Black Custom pile carpet (black - not a kit) Custom wood floor - used reclaimed Knotty Pine (from Annapolis. MD) and custom fit each plank - no holes penetrate the pans for floor mounts Custom headliner - used reclaimed gymnasium flooring (from Ft. Belvoir. VA) and custom fit each plank in place - liner can be removed fairly simply if ever needed (set in place  strategically incase myself of next owner wanted to paint interior) - if you but it. don't EVER remove it. it is simply too damn cool. There is ZERO bugs out there with this detail installed Custom dash layout (done right) Relocated ignition to fit dash layout esthetic  Ragtop was taken apart and painted to match canvas color (I don't like the fabric rag covers as they look way too sloppy) 1958 original seats - cleaned - pictures should speak to condition Custom sterring wheel - refurbished from original condition and used brass hardware on reassemble Custom speed-o - dismantled. greased. painted. new needle (from 1920 boiler gauge). retro fitted lighting with Blue LED New door panels (red velour) New door handles and window cranks ALL interior hardware was replaced with Stainless Steel (about 90% allen head) New wiring - one (1) constant and one (1) switched Blue Sea Systems 12 circuit fuse panels. Relays are on order for the lighting system. All wiring is labels and ran correctly from front to back.   New battery (not dry cell) Wires are ran for stereo upgrade (remote wire and 2 sets of RCA cables) New Pioneer DVH 8400 radio - 7" display and the added feature of detach face (great feature for a bug with no locks) Exterior Details: Engine - single port 1915cc (about 4k miles after rebuild) Trans - rebuilt Freeway Flyer (about 4k miles after rebuild) Custom Stainless Steel exhaust system (truly perfect sounding exhaust) Petronix Electronic Ignition 12 volt electric Goldie 3 fold top - top is about 2 years old and in excellent condition 4" narrowed beam with drop spindles - air shocks in rear Chrome wide 5 wheels front/rear in very good condition - tires have a lot of tread Ice Pick door handles (58' doors) Custom visor (dropped about 6-7" down windshield) Rat style spot light with amber lens - works just isn't wired up Polished aluminum running boards Polished aluminum trim on intake vents Swan Mirrors One piece windows LED brake lights New windshield  Sekurit pop out windows with custom hinge locks Logos are advertising a German Butcher Shoppe (wet sanded them down to give an older looking appeal)
I have new relays and switches in hand which will allow completion of the wiring. I also have LED toggle switches (not installed) which i intended to mount under dash for light switch controls. I did not install seat belts after installing floor but do have original seat belts with new stainless hardware for install if desired when you have it. Car is not set up for heat - could be used if a few parts are installed (lets get real heat shouldn't be a make or break item if being a bug of this stature). The front beam needs to be replaced - existing beam has a cracked shock tower with I removed. I have the piece and both shocks. Car can be ran without shocks as long as you would want to or just replace the beam with new. Air lines for rear shocks should be replaced as they will leak out air after about a week or so. Other that that. the carb could be leaned out if you would refer a bit less of a rich runner. I tried to be as detailed and direct as possible in regards to car specifics. Please feel free to email or text/call me if you have questions. I would LOVE to sell this before the east coast cold season is fully set in.  Contact two 1 five three 5 zero four nine 1 nine.
I do have the car advertised local and reserve the right to end auction early if it sells. I would entertain a trade for a motorcycle. but ONLY a Bobber style bike with a Hard Tail/Rigid Frame. Car is being sold "As Is". Nonrefundable deposit of $500 is required immediately upon auction end. Buyer must contact me within 24 hours of auction end to make arrangements for payment in full and pick up. Payment in full must be made within 7 days of auction end.
This car is a really cool ride and unique by all means. I would love it to go to a quality driver who will keep it as is or take it to the next level.
