Daimler V8 Manual Overdrive 1969

Reluctantly for sale is my Daimler V8 manual with overdrive. I have known this car for 30 years. An engineer friend scoured the country for a genuine manual car with an original un-messed with structure. This was the example he came home with- one that still boasts its original panels and remarkably its sills. Thats why the shut lines are as good as they are.

The car's restoration was fastidious to say the least as two bulging files attest. The plan was always for this to be a useable and practical regular driving car finished to the owners personal preferences. Purists may not like the substitution of earlier wide bumpers and wooden dash top. For my money, both make the car more appealing. A colour change from white to opalescent dark blue was carried out at the time of the restoration, when the car was stripped to a bare shell. Cars of this year are usually fitted with alternators. The restorer/last owner opted for the more reliable dynamo and control box.

Despite the original plans- the car has been very sparingly used since the late 1990's. It came into my possession during the first lockdown. It became unexpectedly available and I had to be its third owner. The headmaster of a primary school, I used the car for my daily commute through the Sussex countryside. Retiring this year, I now need to economise. Hence its availability.

I believe the photographs speak for themselves. From the beautifully re-trimmed and polished interior to lovely coachwork and smooth V8- this car is in super order throughout. Having owned an automatic Daimler some years ago, I have been really pleasantly surprised by the quality of the drive of this manual example- and its a great deal more economical than the auto too. The power steering is positive and progressive which really inspires confidence and the car really holds the road very well indeed.

There are blemishes of course but overall, this must be one of the nicest examples available and super rare with its manual overdrive spec. During the last year, I have replaced the water pump and all of the hoses. I had a couple of body repairs to rectify garage knocks too.

She passed her last MOT with no advisories. It has just expired but I will be more than happy to have a new MOT carried out for the new owner.
