1953 Cadillac 62, 71,000 miles, old school hot rod, rat rod, primer, custom

You are looking at a 1953 Cadillac series 62 sedan . 50th anniversary edition . it has the gold emblems on nose and deck. It has 71. 00ish miles. Runs and drives good. Finished as a “old school” hot rod. Such as you might have seen in late fifties or early sixties. Turns heads and gets lots of attention everywhere it goes. 2 tons of fun.

I have had this for a few years and made the car a “fun driver”. I never intended for it to be a trophy winner. but it has placed in the top 30 this year.

It is painted with satin black epoxy primer. weathered enough to match the patina on the chrome for a genuine old school look. Driver in primer. Red rims have modern radials for a nice ride and a little bit of lowering effect. Some of the chrome parts and gold emblems have been painted ( see pics. hood ornament and v are painted for example).

Original numbers matching 331 V8 and drive line. Four barrel carb. power steering. and a four speed hydromatic transmission. All new brakes. belts . oses . eater core. lines . starter. fuel pump. water pump. etc. new exhaust . ut it ends at the rear axle. Motor has not been apart . trans. had valve body cleaned and front and rear seals only. Too much new stuff to remember . Charging system converted to a gm 10si alternator. Starts easy. runs sweet. Does not have the "correct" battery. but it has one that will start it. correct ones are still available.

Interior is in great shape for 60 years old. The pictures do not show it true colors. they make it look washed out. It is dark green over seafoam green. Only the carpet has been replaced . Original painted dash is in nice shape . Some minor stains and marks and blemishes. etc. as you might expect on a car thats 60 . ut VERY presentable. impressive. and clean. Looks real nice.

Body has had the following repaired with new metal. rocker panels. rear body mounts. dog legs. some spots on floor boards. All four fenders were replaced with nice. solid western parts. Chrome has pits . cuffs. dings . ome has been painted and all has 60 years of patina. a perfect match to the satin black finish. It all works together and adds to the “coolness factor”. Definitely cool. .

This is not a “restored to like new car”. You can make it that if you want . It is old school hot rod. and a little bit of what is now called “rat rod”. This is as found at any high school in the 60's. Want it to grab more attention paint flames on it. that was the next step for me. If you are a cadillac lover and want to restore it to it former glory. redo the chrome . block sand and paint.

The radio . he temp gauge . automatic heat. and automatic headlight eye do not work. Has a star chip on windshield. The under-the-seat heater has been removed. Still has working regular heat and defog. Vacuum wipers do work ok . no washer bottle. Lifter ticks for about five minutes if it sets a few days between starts. but always goes away. Starts easy. very time . I probably forgot some details so if there is anything important not mentioned here. ask. Do not assume. …. you know how the saying goes!

I've had this for a few years. nd don't really want to sell it but. I have a 49 caddy sedanette project ( might list it too) and. I want to build a trike. and due to medical expenses I could use the cash. So if it sells fine . f not . hats fine too. Please ask questions through ebay. I CAN TELL YOU THE CAR RUNS AND DRIVES FINE RIGHT NOW. I CANNOT TELL YOU IT WILL MAKE A MANY MILE TRIP TO ANYWHERE. Lets face it . its got a lot of 60 year old parts on it. I can't foresee a problem but if you try to drive it a long way you better be prepared for the unknown. Napa doesn't stock much for 60 year old cars. but they can probably still get it. in about two weeks .
