Mk1 Golf GTi Cabriolet for sale

Superb original spec cabriolet. Newly restored with lots of photos and receipts to show the work carried out. Also many years of service history available too.

Over the last 2 years this Golf has been subject to a thorough restoration. Although there was not a lot of corrosion considering its age any that was there has been professionally cut out and replaced with new repair panels. The entire body has been resprayed in the original single coat black and the finish is stunning. The interior was generally sound but the drivers seat has been reupholstered and is as new.

The hood has been replaced by Carl Chorley with a high quality mohair outer and the foam, interlining and headlining have all been replaced too. It is electrically operated and all works as it should.

New brakes and clutch have been fitted and the engine is running well, it pulls sweetly and revs well. The fuel distribution unit has been overhauled. The engine bay has not been restored but is in honest original condition. The exhaust is one of the few non original spec items, the rear silencer sounds great but is not too loud inside.

The underside was surprisingly sound but any areas requiring attention have been prepared with a needle gun and treated with Tetra Schultz as necessary.

Front and rear suspension components have been thoroughly prepared with a needle gun and finished with Tetra Schultz.

The new parts fitted are numerous but include windscreen, battery, tyres, lower strut brace and mohair hood.

The original spec “snowflake” wheels have been restored to a high standard and look perfect.

This car looks stunning and turns heads everywhere. It would not be described as a show winner but if you want to spend time on the engine and suspension over winter it soon would be. Its a very good condition car that you wouldn't be afraid to use daily.
