FOR SALE; PORSCHE 911 RSR IROC // STUNNING RECREATION // MEXICO BLUE // 260+BHP WITH DYNO

EXTERIOR
Recently refinished in a period correct coat of Mexico Blue this IROC recreation looks absolutely sensational, with the vivid blue hue amplifying the wide hips and squat stance that make up the Porsche's athletic form. Built on the base of a RHD non-sunroof 1979 SC, the car was converted to a factory standard 930 turbo wide-body and then fitted with lightweight EB Motorsport body panels, including the IROC RSR rear spoiler to complete the iconic racer's look.

Details are what really make this wonderful recreation stand out; with the owner taking the time to re-locate the fuel filler to a centre mount, source RSR wheels with the correct original offsets and even professionally recreating the livery from historic photos to ensure they did justice to the original 70's legend.

INTERIOR
Fitted with a matching blue OMP roll cage, ST bucket seats and 5-point Sabelt harnesses its clear that this RSR is a focused vehicle. Presented in full lightweight spec this example has been stripped, as per the original, with the heater, radio, clock and glove box deleted. Lightweight RSR spec carpets and door cards have also been fitted in favour of the originals, helping to bring to dry weight of the vehicle down to just over 1000kg.

Once settled into the drivers seat the charm of this 911 really starts to shine through; the low slung bucket seats provide excellent support and position the driver perfectly in front of the vintage '74 Jackie Stewart Momo Steering Wheel, with nothing to intrude the intrinsic link between the driver and car.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Powering this stunning recreation is a 3.2L air-cooled Flat-6, taken from a low mileage Supersport before being upgraded to match the cars motorsport looks. Replacing the ignition system and ECU helped to increase power to over 260bhp, whilst a set of PMO EFI throttle bodies and a full custom Inconel exhaust system provides visceral combination of induction noise and that emphatic flat-6 rasp.

Transmission is a 5-speed G15 gearbox with external oil cooler, favoured in the air-cooled racing community as a lightweight alternative to the later G50.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Sitting on a set of Braid Comp RSR wheels costing over £2,500, the stance of this recreation is perfect, with the nose of the car dipped slightly thanks to the unique RS offset (Front-15×9 Et-3 Rear-15×11 Et-27). Premium Michelin TB5R+ tyres adorn each corner of the car, a period correct choice that work brilliantly on road.

Braking is taken care of by a set of 930 Turbo discs and calipers, as are the rear control arms and torsion bars, whilst a brand new set of Bilstien B6 Sport Nurburgring shocks and Elephant Racing Polybronze bushing complete the impressive set up.

HISTORY FILE
Beginning life as a 1979 RHD non-sunroof SC this vehicle was imported to the UK in 2001 and changed hands a number of time before being selected as the ideal donor car for this sensational recreation. The project was a labour of love for an avid Porsche collector; purchased in 2007 as a rolling shell it took nearly 11 years and thousands of pounds to complete the build of this extraordinary machine.

Only the highest standard of work was deemed acceptable by the owner, with much of the work undertaken by himself and a small team of specialists who converted the SC shell to a factory standard widebody, as well as completing the full Mexico Blue re-spray and extensive list of modifications to the Supersport engine, with a dyno print out present showing an output of over 260bhp. Invoices present with the car outline much of the work completed over the 11 year period, totalling around £19k mostly in parts, as well as recent invoices from the current owner which include an oil service with Tower Porsche and a full geometry set up in March 2020.

The car has also been featured in a number of publications including Porsche's Type7 magazine, SIGHT magazine and CarVintage, where photographs of the RSR won an award.

Supplied with the car is a comprehensive log of invoices outlining the conversion, a full spec list of the cars current set up, V5 and 1 set of keys.
