1971 Pontiac Firebird FORMULA 400 for sale
Current customer rating:
Up for your consideration is my 1971 Pontiac Firebird Formula 400.
This is a PHS Historic Services documented original car.
All documentation comes with the car.
Original 400 CID engine. 4 BBL Carb (7041263 VE 2230) . 4 Speed manual transmission with Hurst Shifter. Factory Honeycomb wheels (with original chrome trim rings). and also included is a set of 4 original Pontiac Rally Wheels that came with the car.
The original owner ordered both from the dealer.
The car was purchased new at Larry H. Miller Pontiac in Salt Lake City.
I have the original clear title in hand from the '70's.
This car is truly a non-restored original time capsule.
The engine runs great and is smooth.
No funny noises (knocks or pings). no fluid drips. and no smoking.
Original carburetor was recently rebuilt and works great.
Transmission shifts like it should and it's a runner.
The brakes work well and all gauges work as they should.
The dash clock still works and even keeps accurate time.
This car has been kept in a climate controlled garage. not a barn. so you won't find it crawling with spiders and rodent crap.
Rear quarters. behind the wheels. have some rust.
The rust hasn't gone into the trunk. the trunk is solid.
Classic Industries has the needed patch panels for these areas and are very inexpensive.
This is the perfect candidate for an original restoration and would be a great addition to the Pontiac enthusiasts collection.
As you can see from the photos she needs some TLC All systems operate as they should including all lights and the horn.
The car is in great condition for being 46 years old and for never having been through a restoration.
It could also be enjoyed as a daily driver just the way it is.
This car has never been abused. raced. or hot rodded.
They're rapidly climbing in value and getting harder to find in original. unmolested condition.
Most that you see out there have been beat to death. had engine swaps. etc.
I'm happy to discuss the car on the phone with serious buyers.
Thanks for looking and good luck !
A word to the wise . if you need your wife's permission / consent / acknowledgement to purchase the car. please get that before bidding.
I'm married. happily married. but I understand the drill when it comes to large purchases . good idea to get her on your side before clicking the "place a bid" button.
Also. please do not bid a high amount with the primary intent to discover the reserve only to then cancel the bid claiming to have "entered the wrong amount".
That undermines my position as the seller and it messes with the other bidders as well.
Bid ONLY if you intend to buy the car and bid only what you are willing to pay.
Thanks!
