Up for sale is my 1972 Chevy K5. An estate sale find. 43. xx miles (no. the odometer hasn't rolled over. see backstory). second owner of the truck. 350 (5. 7L) chevy V8 with 4 speed manual transmission and 4-wheel drive. Runs and drives great. Carbbed motors are a bit cranky on the cold starts. but once it gets going. it runs like a champ.

Backstory (If not interested in this part. just skip down to the next break in the text. ):
So the original owner purchased the car locally in 1972 (I believe it was here in GR. have the paperwork around here somewhere. Will double check). The guy had used the truck as his daily driver and. occasionally. to pull his boat. until he had a stroke in the late 70's (I believe it was 1978). After that. the K5 sat. the guy held on to it until his death in the mid 80's (believe it was '85) and his wife let it sit in their barn. until she died. in late 2013. After that. the adult children of the now late couple. put much of their things up for sale in an estate sale; where my father had found the truck sitting. We payed $1000 for the then-defunct truck and began work restoring it.

Over the course of a couple years. the truck has had the carb rebuilt. brake booster and master cylinder replaced. new brakes all the way around. new shocks. new tires. new ignition system (in it's entirety). most of the gaskets have been replaced. new exhaust from the manifolds to the muffler.

Pros:
-Runs like a champ
-Drives great. especially around the city (It does have power steering)
-Looks good
-Last year of the fully detachable top
-Top doesn't leak

Cons:
-Body rust. See pics. will likely need new floor panels in the rear. Still drives fine enough. The old expression is that it's a 10-footer (From 10 feet away it looks amazing. but you can see the blemishes up close)
-slow leak in the front right tire (takes months to fully deflate)

Other stuff (Things you should be aware of if you've never driven a classic car. Or if it's been a while):
-Power Steering is on all the time: Most modern power steering units turn off at speed. So it feels like it's always trying to undercorrect or overcorrect at speed.
- Geared really low: From a standstill. with no weight in the back. you start in 2nd gear. So that 4 speed manual is more like a 3 speed (Similar to old army jeeps and Deuce-and-a-half's).
- No radio: Still has the stock GM head unit. doesn't work. never got around to fixing it. Even if it did work. it only gets AM radio.
- No A/C: Was an option in 1972. but this one doesn't have it. Hope you can take the heat.

Feel like I'm forgetting something. May add in more later. Overall the truck is a good buy. Fully drive-able right now. next step would probably be body work. Already have a truck that I'd rather use for truck stuff - plus I care less if my toyota gets dinged. scratched. or broken. Selling because I used a chunk of my deployment money to buy a Ducati and I figure I can pay off the rest of my bike loan with the money I make from selling this truck. Overall it is a great vehicle and this is a great opportunity. Email me or text me at 616-502-3988
