1974 VOLKSWAGEN SUPER BEETLE CONVERTIBLE

4 Cylinder  4 SPEED

 Low Mile Project Vehicle

For sale is a 40 year old 1974 Volkswagen Super Beetle Convertible.   This is an older restoration that has been off the road for a few years and needs some work to be put back on the road.   This Karmann classic has only 54k on the odometer.   The gas tank was replaced and brakes done in 2011.   I didn't pull the brake drums. but the brakes do work and I see new brake lines were installed.   I replaced the starter. put a used battery in the bug. poured some gas down the carb and it ran.   Even after sitting for years the motor ran strong and sounded great without smoking.   I replaced the fuel filter and put some fresh gas in the tank.   I believe the carb needs an accelerator pump or possibly a kit.   Accelerator pumps for this 34pict carb run about $8 and kit under $20.   It does need floor pan repair especially where the battery is located.   Rust holes were noted by the battery tray and drivers side foot area. Properly done. nbsp;the pans should be replaced. but I've seen worse repaired.   The tires were just replaced with rubber having less than a few thousand miles and in the stock size for this beetle.   The top is in good shape.   The glass is in good shape.   The clutch and transmission appear to fine. but I have not driven the bug.   The seats are OK for a driver.   The headliner has a couple of rips. I have not checked any of the electrical aside from the starting system which works.   The alternator works as well.   The paint is very shiny but has some ships and rubs from storage.   The bug steers fine.   I towed the bug with a tow bar and it tracks nice and straight.   You'll need to transport or have the beetle transported to your location at your cost.   This is a very collectible bug. once completed. it could be worth $6k or more.
