For Sale: 1959 MGA 1500 Roadster black/red interior/black top and tonneau.

I have owned this car for 25 years and enjoyed driving and restoring this roadster.   I have kept it garaged and under collector insurance the whole time.   I am the fourth owner and I am selling it to allow time and space for a different  branch and emphasis of the old-car hobby.   It has been kept as a fun vehicle to enjoy and drive and restore if not improve upon  the original state.

This is a driver and not a trailer queen.   Not abused or raced.

 600 miles on professionally-rebuilt engine.   Extensive hobbyist restoration from 9/2009 to 8/2012.   Engine rebuilt by Kirk Westberg of Advanced Engine (year 2011).

Bodywork: replacement of sheetmetal; DuPont 2-stage paint; epoxy primer.   Original trunk. trunk floor. hood and doors and fenders-most of the shell.   Metal valance.   Aluminum front bumper.

Body accessories: 2nd gen. aluminum and plexiglass side curtains; wind wings; brass zipper black tonneau; grey matte spare tire cover with tire hold-down; partial black vinyl tool kit; aftermarket scissor jack and tool kit

Engine: 0. 040 bored over; hardened v. seats; heater; rebuilt dist. ; generator; new starter. Tested heater core. re-cored radiator. Rebuilt dual S. U. carbs (1997); standard oil filter housing.   Schaeffer's 700 20W/50 zinc oil; Federated Global Ext. Life coolant.

Fuel: re-lined/tested original tank/filler 89-91 octane

Exhaust: standard manifold; stainless exhaust; heat shields under floorboards

Brakes: standard; Castrol LMA dot 3; steel lines copper plated

Tires/rims: Dunlop 165R15 radial (4); spare is Coker Cooper/refurbished metal rims (1994)

Electrical: single 12 volt; original battery trays; positive ground; rewired to original specs. with bullet connectors.

Chassis: main floorboards replaced with marine plywood w/  black stain; black competition seat belts.

Carpet: synthetic black cut pile; factory-spec edging

Interior: factory spec. red pleated leather with armrest; red dash; radio blank plate

Transmission: aftermarket shift knob; clutch disc and p. plate and seals replaced. Oil: SAE 30W

Diff. : standard; Allen key plugs; Oil:  Lucas 80W-90 Heavy Duty

Engine #:  15GB UH 51772

There are many restoration photos as well as current photos.   Final photos cover from 2012 to present.

Disclosure:  Here are some items. imperfections that detract from ideal:

1. Finish: There is some orange peel on fenders and doors and sl. runs on right rear fender and driver door.   A The right rear body tub was dinged after painting and this was repaired but feathered edge of clear coat was not buffed out; the clear coat on the front bumper. which is aluminum. has flaked off in areas;

2. The top is more than 25 years old and therefore shrink is evident where the B pillar flaps fall short of the tabs.

3. The top frame itself has some rust and with that 2 bow  screws do not hold;

4. rear bumper has some dings and overrider has some breakdown in the chrome;

Car is in Spokane Washington state
